Even this isn't entirely true. The gearbox is unique to the cars and by Aisin (IE; Toyota).

Aisin makes transmissions for more than just toyota, its not a 250 unit.
Toyota's most esteemed mechanical contribution was their d4-s injection, a technology they were apprehensive to share. |

I love how the majority of this thread is people ACTING agreeable:
"Guys, we can all agree they did the car jointly.... just that (insert company) did the important work." That's not being agreeable, it's being an elitist. |

the point is Subaru did their part and Toyota did that part, end of story. Let's drop this shit because it's retarded to argue about it anyway.

Having done more research and driven both and some soul searching :P, I feel like I'd be fine with either car. Was wondering though,
Subaru vs Scion warranties. With this being my first car, not too familiar with how these work and which is better for someone that is mostly using it as a daily driver. |

The Toyota fan boys have been arguing that the overall design and top level engineering was done by Toyota and Subaru did the grunt work and component design. The Subaru fan boys have been arguing that everything mechanical and cool about the car was designed by Subaru and that Toyota just provided money and some of the little cheap crap like the interior stuff. Really, looking back at the thread, the majority of people could have just gotten on here and said "I own a FRS so I agree with option A" or "I own a BRZ so I agree with option B". I, and my family, have owned Hondas my whole life so I was totally indifferent and only chose the FRS because Subaru wouldn't let me test drive one until I put a deposit on it so they could order one in. Scion handed me the keys. All that said, I do get offended by people saying things like "I wouldn't drive a Scion" or "Subaru is just a cooler brand" or "Scions are driven by teenagers". Yes, you weren't directly pointing fingers at the Scion owners, but you are being passive aggressive about owning a better car because it has different emblem on it. And yes, it is stupid that people play innocent and act surprised when those people get offended and voice their dislikes. And I am sure that the Subaru owners get plenty upset when the Toyota fan boys act like the car is a Toyota and Subaru is just the servant that did the bitch work. |

Most interior electronics were by Subaru with some exceptions (stalks, cruise control controls)-- Thus the subtle differences in plastics. Some interior parts are built at a combination of places but overall it comes together fairly well. Just flat out saying Subaru did the mechanical work and Toyota the styling is a pretty broad oversimplification-- It truly was a team effort. Subaru gets the privilege of actually building them for us, however. ![]() Sorry for being picky and over-info-ey, but frankly I think this is the most successful team effort in Japan in a very long time, and I think it should be celebrated in its convoluted glory.

Is it crazy for me to not really care? They look pretty much the same at a glance. I'll probably pick up the one thats available in the color I like when I have the cash.
Are there any big differences in warranty between scion and subaru? |
