The sad reality, is that cars are designed to break down. Manufacturers/dealers make more money on servicing a vehicle or selling parts than selling vehicles. They *COULD* make a car that lasts 500k miles, but then no one would trade up.

My friend works at one of those Patrol rent-a-cop kind of deals and they give him carollas.

Needless to say.. all the carollas they have are over the 299999 on odometer and they're still going. lol

Oh man, the ring talk reminds of something I just witnessed last weekend hanging out with my best friend and his girl (being a third wheel kind of sucks) when they dropped off a necklace for repair. While he was doing the paper work she instantly went to look at rings. When he was done she started dragging him over while I kept pushing him and telling him to go on with an evil grin. I was enjoying being mean about torturing him with it until she picked out a $7,500.00 ring.

I loved that the little plaque in the window said "Collection prices ranging from $2,500 - $7,500" because that meant she had picked out the most expense ring in that collection. I felt bad then, especially when she busted out that annoying question, "Aren't I worth it?" I tried to save him with a sappy, non-money answer, but was quickly told to shut up by the girlfriend, so I walked away laughing to myself.

Or the... 2.5k-7.5k could just all mean.. "Oh sorry all the rings under 7.5k are sold out. Only the 7.5k ones are left" Rofl

Lol, and EVERYTHING in the car functions perfectly on the originally manufactured parts (minus normal wear items)? LOL

I had a corolla with over 250K on it, it ran fine, but things go like suspension stuff, radiators, piston rings, valve seals


Back on the other topic, my woman would have yelled at me if I spent that much on a ring. She's the furthest from materialistic that I've ever seen a woman. She cared more about where and how I proposed than the ring that came with it

I have a quick car question and I don't feel it needs a whole thread to be built for it. I'm looking for some good brake pads for my Celica that will be used both on track and street. The squeal that accompanies performance pads is irrelevant to me as a dissuasion. Hawk HP Plus is looking good to me, but any opinions?

An opinion on brake fluid wouldn't hurt either.

Oh yeah, I commented on the saleswoman's abilities a few times. She was milking it the best she could. "Well, we do have a smaller version of this ring..." She had the catalog ready and everything. The smaller version was "only" $5,500.00.

Drive by the gas stations a few times. Calculate the distance to and from your closest autoparts store that stocks BMW parts. Show the results to your wallet. Watch it cry. Feel better about your BRZ decision.
