Hey guys, new here. I have a question for y'all. How did you justify purchasing your car? I'm considering buying a brz but it goes against all financial advice I've ever received (and thinking of spending 15% of my salary on car payments kinda scares me, lol). Still think the car is great though.

Don't listen to me - midlife crisis and inheritance combined to kill any self-restraint.
Plus I planned on getting one since this time last year - I bought the personalized plates in June last year
Cars are not investments unless it is a 1965 Ferrari GTO or something lol
Go for it !

YOLO.

I had the same dilemma, I couldn't justify spending money on a new car when I already had a working car. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, my Civic started having problems and wasn't worth fixing. I had a choice of buying another used car and spoil myself with the FR-S. Sometimes you just have to spoil yourself and enjoy life.

Like WS1288 said "you only live once"! Might as well make it worth living. Sure there are always more practical things you can do with your hard earned money. I wasn't even in the market for a new car but one test drive and I found myself in a cubical talking numbers! Lol

I traded in a 6-month old Genesis Coupe to get the FR-S. What do I know?

But I can tell you I haven't looked back.

in hindsight considering the financial situation i now find myself, that i never expected to end up in, it would have been smarter to not get my FR-S.
but then i would hate life and feel dead...
so in the long run id say it is money well spent!

The FRS makes the morning drive to work that much more fun! And its a long drive, South Keys to Kanata......

Ouch. I live in Kanata so the car wouldn't do much commuting (does a 4 min drive count as commuting?)

What you will find is that you will turn your 4 minute commute into a 20 minute (or longer) tour everyday. It is that much fun.
