Yes, but as gently as possible of course. It's only popped in with clips. I would recommend taking off the BIG dash piece first so you can get a better grip on the radio trim. Less chance of breaking anything.

Just ordered these from Nigel, I am so pumped to get them in, that is the only part of the entire car that I really don't like, is the hard plastic knee area.

When you get these the padding won't seem real thick, but they make a world of difference on the knees. I have used them for a track day and 3 days of autocross and have never had sore knees from resting on the pads like in other cars. They are great.

Yeah I was skeptical of their padding capabilities until my first track day with them, so much better on the knees.

My previous FR-S got totaled in a hail storm, and I have a 10 Series on order. Since that has the push-to-start button (like the BRZ), are the steps to follow replacing the knee pads the same as what's posted, you'll just have to disconnect the push-to-start as well? Or does that make things more difficult?

No need to disconnect that button! You'll just have to pop out the enclosure and you're good. Congrats on the pre-order!

I've tried pulling out the little cubby hole/enclosure under the HVAC dials but for the life of me I can't seem to make it budge. I've tried pulling from the front and pushing it from the back with a solid metal rod but all that does is make the whole HVAC panel bulge outwards. Any advice on how to get the bugger out (besides ripping it out by force and breaking things)?

Mine was kind of a pain, too. Maybe try softening the plastic by heating it up with a blow dryer for a minute or so? There really isn't anything there holding it in, although I did accidentally break one of the clip inserts because I got tired of fighting it. It honestly isn't that big of a deal if you break one, though, because there are others holding it in place.
