This serves as a grim reminder of how dangerous our sport really is.

Please be careful out there everyone!

Tragic loss. My thoughts are with their friends and families.

RIP to those involved. HPDE still presents less of a likelihood of fatality than driving around the streets.

I was there at the event, on track. The accident happened about 10 seconds ahead of me. It was an awful situation. I commented on the trackhq board about it...

I read about it and a lot of the people in Phoenix love Chuckwalla and the news of the incident spread quickly around that day at west track where I was at. Sorry to hear that this happened we had a bad accident at west track the day before putting the driver in the hospital. This is a strong reminder to always let the tires warm up and never drive the car past your personal limits or past the car's limits.

Yeah.. 4 point and submarined. Driver lost his helmet. All stuff I've stressed and stuff we don't allow at ITR Expo. (well we can't prevent people from loosening a helmet once on track I guess).

Sucks all around, horrible accident

Hopefully people will learn from it.

To be clear, should a 4 point harness be used or not be used without other safety equipment?
