I have been reading this thread since last year. I really really like the 86 because of its rwd and sport suspensions, but I also worried how possible to use it as a solo daily driver. For anyone daily drive it in this past winter, please share your comments.

I have an automatic I4 accord now. In the past I daily drove a lifted tj (4.0L,6mt). It was fine in winter--i even used rwd on purpose in snow. But 86 might be too light.

Dual car setup might be the right way, but it is costy.
Hey, and welcome.

I drove the car all winter. Just get winter tires on it, and you'll be fine. If you're really iffy about it, throw some extra weight in the trunk and it'll help you out. If you've driven RWD before, and especially if you've driven RWD in the winter before, you won't have much to worry about. The car isn't overly powerful. The only thing that might be a concern, I'd guess, would be a country road commute where large snowdrifts might be an issue. I sliced through city roads and the expressway all winter, and even made a couple trips up to cottage country (Wiarton) without any concern. Sure there were a few black ice mini-scares, but those can happen in any car in the winter.

Yup I noticed some as well for the first time yesterday, no pooling but minor condensation at the very least.

I had the crickets from the very beginning, then I switched fuel from Petro-Canada 94 to Shell V-Power 91. They were gone.

I had to fill up last week with Petro-Canada, as the Shell was closed. They're baaaaack. lol

So, I drove 'til almost empty, then filled up this morning with the V-Power 91. Gone.

When I get my new fuel pump I'll try the Petro-Can again and report.

So, I'm driving to work this morning and I look down at the odometer. I didn't know home much time I had to get a pic, so I had to move fast. It's a crappy picture, but it made me smile that I was able to get it. Yes, It's little silly taking a picture while driving, but there was nobody ahead or behind on a straight country road.

Just got my car Saturday and absolutely love it. Nothing but great things about this car. First manual car and I have it figured out already amazing.

Great day saw another Firestorm on Edinburgh and College in Guelph and got the TRD Spoiler installed at Guelph Scion. Looks great and a fantastic job.

Really liking that spoiler! Maybe after I pay for my exhaust. @thorlius total charge to my card for the side markers - $113.99. Not bad for the change it'll make... especially on the firestorm.

I totally believe Slartibartfast. Some of the roads between Cambridge and Guelph are pretty straight and going much faster than 86 km/h is asking for trouble from the OPP.

The 70 km/h stretch on Hwy 24, I'd guess. That's way too slow in an 80 zone and bold in a 60 zone.

Yeah, you know me too well. I had to slow down to 86.

It was Hwy32 going north. It's an 80, most people do 100.

Hi thorlius,
Valuable experience. Appreciated! I guess you also carry a shovel and probably sand/salt just in case.
btw, I like the red color. Actually the fr-s is so beautiful it looks great with all color options.

Looks awesome! Every time I see the Firestorm I think "Man, that looks nice". Still love the black though.

Congrats again. Hope to see you at events.

Welcome to the group greentea. We're a nice bunch... untill, a) you're ahead of one of us on the track, or b) A 'hellaflush' vs 'hellafunctional' argument breaks out.

lol

I know a few people who drove through the winter on their summer tires! I store my 'Lenore", but I took it out early when the good weather started. Then we got snow dumped on us. I can tell you that it's behaviour is very predictable, easy to correct, and a ton of fun! If I drive it through the winter next year (likely not), I would definitely put on winters though. It may be fun and easy to slide around, but if I need to stop suddenly I wouldn't want to be on summers.
