a wife beater and shorts will exponentially increase the chances of you getting severe burns or flat out dying in the event of an in-car fire Never been to a touge event but I’ve seen plenty of the battle endless runs, Can you confirm if: 1. You have an ambulance ready to go in the paddock 2. How many marshals are scattered through out the track, and if you have flags to control traffic and fire extinguishers to help put of a fire 3. If your series offers liability insurance to your participants to help cover legal fees if one driver decides to sue another driver 4. What are your passing rules and zones 5. Do you screen new drivers or do you just let anyone with cash in hand on to the track? 6. Does anyone perform a basic safety check to make sure that the battery is tied down, that there are no loose objects in or on the car, that all the wheels have the proper amount of lug nuts and that there is sufficient material on the brake pad?

Theres no ambulance ready to go
Before we track we have breifing, about rules and passing zone, what do each colour flag means when webwave it, and then we ask who are new to the track and encourage them to sit in someones car and get lessons, if your new or warming up, hazard lights should be on. You have to sign a waiver too. Personally i find it very safe, if there are crazy drivers we will flag them off the track and ask them to leave. Yea i do drive with flip flops, but i am not driving competitively as you can see in the video. Im very relaxed and brake very early. I wouldnt want to waste money repairing my car so im very cautious. Never went off the track in my life. |

so what happens if there is a severe accident?
what are your passing rules how many flags do you have? 1 at start finish or multiple spread across the entire track with guys and radios? Quote:
the waiver absolves the track and the organizers from fault of an on track accident however it does not stop anyone from filing a lawsuit. Who will cover the legal fees? i guess you just haven't been to an event that actually covers all of the above.

now, don't get me wrong, i like the idea of loose and simple rules.
but please don't go around telling everyone it's a "very safe" environment it is not, and there are other series that focus on safety to a much higher extent than you do, and they are backed by the FIA and ASN. your type of series offers a certain freedom of behaviour that is attractive to a demographic that doesn't come out to our events, which to them are often "too complicated" or "too competetive" but you CAN, if you wanted to, raise the bar on your safety standards. But seeing as to how you are fine driving in flipflops i doubt it will ever happen. I don't know how involved you are with Touge.ca, but please do consider addressing some of these issues. It could take 1 serious accident to have our very fragile sport to get canned. For isntance, if that Impreza flip at TMP ended in death, you can be sure heads would have rolled and a serious inquiery into all the series would ahve been launched by the joint effort of the police, soccer moms and some government appointed pannel of idiots.

From my limited experiences with Touge, the passing rules are:
No passing unless signaled in the passing zones. So if the car in front of you refuses to let you pass, you slow down and stay behind them until they signal which side you can pass on. If the guy refuses to let you pass repetitively, blue flag, followed by black flag to pull them off. I find this to be great for beginners, to get into the sport. If you're slow, you're not going to be suddenly overtaken and scared without notice. Those going fast are perhaps slowed down a little from time to time waiting for the passing zones and signaling. The more relaxed driving allows them to be more relaxed with the rules. Of course this is motor racing and associated dangers are always in existence. But I suppose given the circumstances it is less likely at one of their events. You can probably tell the events are more focused on fun rather than competitiveness (although it does exist haha) From what you're saying, I presume you're at a much faster pace and competiveness than the Touge events, and require much higher safety standards along with the higher costs that go with those standards. This is probably not for you. Haha |

Just wanna thank Funcheung for informing us of this event. Just got back from it and havent had much track time before hand (2 times before with an Ek hatch and s2k).
Have to say... Funcheung ur quick! Slicks must be another world of grip. I went with OEM tires and still had a good time. Gotta learn those lines! For those attending future events, watch out for a PINK SKYLINE! Apparently tbat driver does not understand NO PASSING ALLOWED during certain circumstances (cut me off like 3 times MID CORNER! ) - not very safe. |

For those who came to this day, sorry, everybody was pissed because da host made time for those fucking rich mainland kids CSCC to do photoshoots and lessons. I told the host, next time they go, i am NOT GOING. He said dont worry, they dont come out usually....plus they are retarded.
