IMHO those units just look like the JDM/Eros with the LEDs turned off and the chrome trim completely taped over!

NOOOO RICE models!
That's awful.
I do like the Gazoo one in the background, you just need to remove the wing.

Hell yeahs they do! Got me some really nice quality Scion metal keychains from the small ass MPLS autoshow a few years back. I remembered when I got a bag of goodies from their booth, saw the keychain sitting in the bag and was like meh. Got home afterwards, took it out and had to say it was pretty damn nice. They threw in a couple of caps and even a brake fluid reservoir sock lol. I got a bunch of dealer brochures from everyone else hahah. I gotta say, that piston 86 would make a nice ass metal keychain.

No, I don't. I have it longer in the winter time. Summer time, I have it short (due to working on the car).

Back to the topic, MAN that's a lot of translation we're talking bout here... Read few pages and some of them are already been discussed before. Some like Cyde said are new... but maybe just need to translate those new info ones?

...or maybe Aki is already working on translating all of em?

Edit: Headlight housing has carbon accent. The silver stripe has alloy/magnesium look instead of chrome and is bigger than JDM one. DRL is different from the high spec headlight. It's definitely a left hand drive car. Here is the close up picture.

look at the pics again. its on an EDM car. and that test was early on in the year. unless i see a production car with this third headlight, i'd still consider it a pre-production prototype.

I think those headlights are possibly design study for the LED unit that comes with production models. The plastic piece is probably there in place of the LED strip for test purposes. While ppl are pointing out the CF trim, etc on it. I also noticed that the finish of that housing is really poor to be anything production.

I can see why Toyota might have lowered the revs and power output. Subaru is the one who is supposed to bring out a higher power model later. (STi anyone?) I'm guessing that additional output will be left to Subaru to figure out. I'm sure they can rev high enough to match or overcome S2000. The pistons have coatings on the sides and the engine is more balanced than inline-4 in S2000. I won't be surprised to see additional 1,000 rpm unlocked on factory engine without major issues.

I'm also digging the Fujiwara Tofu AE86. I hope Toyota sponsors an event to bring the Drift King and other people to do a challange time attack with similar spec cars. (namely S2000, S15, RX-8, Genesis Coupe, RS-X) It will be a big publicity event on the Tube and good way to see how the cars match up in different areas of the track.

I noticed that the core frame of the body has a support running in the middle of the roof. This car will NOT have any sun-roof with that in place. I don't think they will go back to design board just to put one on.

the D-4S system in the 86 is not the current D-4S system available in already existing toyota products. it is a next gen D-4S system. without it it would have been impossible to make 200hp without reving it more than 7000rpm and it would have been impossible to meet their ambitious gas mileage targets. this makes me think that they didn't go for a higher redline in order to produce some very high mileage numbers. apparently there was a lot of apprehension to exposing subaru engineers to this next gen tech that hadn't even been put to market yet.
Wow.

Thats possible they are using 2 pumps. DI is high pressure and it uses both types of injection from what I have read.

Haha, I miss that see through A-piller. I still wish they kept the hatch. The car still weights quite a bit compared to the AWD 5 door new Impreza at 2900 LB. And that car doesn't have weak frame by any mean.
