A friend of mine just suggested having the pump replaced with a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump. I don't know anything about this technical stuff, but do you think it would work?

You'd likely need some serious ECU tweaking or a whole aftermarket unit to interface properly to control the new unit so you don't get the engine locking down and throwing a bunch of codes at you.

And that's IF the pump is equivalent in performance which very few people have such information and most of them work for Toyota.

It would take lots of research before even attempting, it's not something that can just plug and play. Nothing is these days.

Makes me want carburetors again...

Yikes, that's a lot more work than I would've thought or would want. Plus with it being a lease and under warranty, it's doubtful I could even ask, even if it was plug and play. I'm debating whether or not I even want to take it back a second time since they've come back again.

It's not outside the realm of possibility, replacing the fuel pump for a more high performance aftermarket part is extremely common in the world of motorsports, but they're usually coupled with a performance ECU and with the engine being relatively new the aftermarket is still in the learning/development phase.

I have no doubt that an aftermarket pump will be available, however nobody will make one just because the old one squeaks especially when it's possible Toyota/Subaru will come out with a replacement next week.

Mine are non existent at the moment if that helps, ~75 degree weather recently, 8k miles, mostly Arco 91 octane with 10% ethanol. My commute is about 40 minutes so I get it up to temperature twice a day.

Until two days ago I had no other mods other than lighting and interior garnishment. I did put on a new exhaust on Wednesday, but I haven't changed anything else (not even a drop in air filter) and I have had the chirping for a few thousand miles now.

Since it is the HPFP, I think it is luck of the draw. I have friends that have the noise and others that do not have it.

Just did my second oil change yesterday at 5100 miles. First oil change was done at 2000 miles with OEM 0w-20 synthetic oil. Up until the oil change yesterday, I would always hear this chirping sound at idle, but after yesterday's oil change, which I used Motul 300V 5w-30, I no longer hear the chirping anymore. Do I think oil had something to do with it? I have no idea. Do I think it's completely eliminated? I rightfully doubt so. But I will keep this post updated as I put more miles on my BRZ. Just wanted to share my experience.

I noticed mine is chirping. I've got a bit under 1500 miles on the car. This isn't something I really need to deal with until my first service right?

My FRS is going in to have the fuel pump replaced on Wednesday... I only run Chevron 94 octane in mine and have had the chirping for around 500 miles now... Hopefully the new pump fixes it.

Just got mine replaced about a month ago. Car has 6200 miles on car. But only had the replaced fuel pump for roughly 1500 miles then boom. Chirping came back. Plan on taking it back to get it replaced again.

If you guys are running fuel with Ethanol in it you are going to have the chirp no matter how many times they replace the fuel pump.

The only fix right now is running ethanol free gas.

I've been doing it for over 2 weeks now and ever since I have no chirp.

Might want to be careful, there are some butthurt people that don't live near ethanol free stations.
