I don't either, but I would believe you on this until it is proven otherwise.

It is. It's been shown in a couple pics. At least it's got a picture of a mirror so it's either heated mirrors (unlikely) or power folding (extremely likely for Japan).

The U.S. will get cheap plastic ones.

Exactly.

There is no trim level, so there isn't like 350z Base vs 350z Touring/Enthusiast. It's all one model and that model comes with an LSD.

And why do I need to go aftermarket? Simple...Aftermarket > Factory. You are not paying for Factory components and getting the same performance that you would from the aftermarket. Factory options and components are not as aggressive and in a general way....watered down when you compare it to the Aftermarket. Not to mention Aftermarket is cheaper.

Example:

TRD supercharger for the tC was around $4k installed from Toyota. Got you 200whp.

Aftermarket turbo setups for tC were same price and you got 300+whp.

You can't beat Aftermarket in the $-to-performance category.

A navi head unit from the dealer EASY $2k. Do you know what you can build for $2k in terms of a car computer by simply getting the stuff yourself in the Aftermarket? You could build something WAY more potent than that touch screen from the factory.
so basically you're saying what we all already know. that the scion factory performance options, if you can even call it that, is crap. looks like scion's options ARE all about looks...

Yah I think you guys might be right. I think it is a power folding mirror button. Looks like it in this closeup of the GT86 photo. That' be a pretty cool feature to have though. But I'll take a OTD price of $21k anyday.

Scion version: for people who can barely afford it at all
Subaru: normal version

The only problem is that Subaru's front is bland and style-less and accentuates the car econobox looks (as everything else Subaru).
Scion's front has a lot personality... but oh my god, I'd never drive a car with THAT interior no matter the price...

And I wonder why'd they show the lowest spec car in reveal? Makes me think this IS the highest spec car actually...

I don't think white lettering on a light silver will be very visible. The illumination is on. You can tell by how bright the red in the redline is and how bright the radio is.

If it is white than that just shows how crappy white gauges look at night and the very reason why I didn't want them. The white ends up reflecting so you get white letters on a dull white face.. looks horrible at night.

However, the other illumination looks amber/red, so does Scion really mismatch the illumination like that? White on gauges and amber/red on hvac/audio buttons/etc?

I'm sure there's more than a few people here who would disagree with that.

WRONG because I say that about EVERY factory option for EVERY car you can buy.

Aftermarket is 99.99% always better. Stuff like oil filters...Factory Toyota Oil filter is better than all the aftermarket ones you can buy.

It's like this for example...TRD Suspension is not crappy, but it isn't exactly "race" spec either. It depends on the car. The TRD setup for the Fj Cruiser for example is from what I can tell...pretty sweet. Now I don't know what Aftermarket has in terms of Suspension for the Fj, but with the TRD stuff for it, I would have been happy....if I had an Fj.

But for the tC...TRD suspension is ok, but it doesn't run stiff spring rates that you would find on TEIN or any of the alternatives. Can it work sure but it cost the same as more potent gear from the aftermarket. And if I'm going to buy something why would I pay the same price for a softer version of it if my goal was to extract performance.

Again, this is how I see ALL factory options, not just Scion.

I think you are seriously underestimating some of the buyers interested in this car and how much they can spend.

Oh, and it's called a car loan.
