I like to complain just as much as the next guy, but I really don't see what you guys are complaining about. That black modified version is the coolest looking model we've seen yet.

This is why some will never consider a Scion. They've painted themselves into this corner as a car maker that is all into modding geared towards a much younger crowd. Myself I can care less what others think about what I'm driving, but I can understand why others may not want that stigma attached to what they drive.

Wishful thinking at best. Their figure is 200hp at the crank now and when you do the standard enthusiast scientific process of -20% to the wheels (lol), you're looking at a paltry ~160whp. Most likely you won't see big numbers on a flash, and especially common bolt-ons regardless of the CR and race gas. Best case scenario, you would get around that at the crank, but that's best case scenario once again. Who knows though, maybe there's room to play with the flash, but I highly doubt it.

The interior looks SPORTY, uncluttered, and simple, which is a good thing. I honestly think the Scion interior fits the car better - the Subaru one looks too close to something you would see in a Subaru Forester. Climate control? Heated seats? These are BAD things in a bare bones sports car. Interiors have come a long way since the 90's golden age of Japanese sports cars, at least for the cheap cars. Ever been in a 240SX? The interior is crap, especially in S14's.

I am one of those who is willing to pay for the options, but scion does not allow that only in accessories. The interior we see if what we are going to get. Basically low-spec with a stereo. Some people are cool with that, not me. Subaru will have my money.

Unless Scion is gonna offer, HIDS, LED daytime running lights, auto AC, push button start, and the overall upgraded interior available in the BRZ and 86...then I am cool with them. At least give us the option. You know they are not because they would have said so already. Subaru and Toyota already said there will be two trim levels. Scion said nothing. But we already know how Scion rolls..monospec. Its part of their DNA.

It's the details that pissed me off with what scion did to the awesome Toyota 86. They ruined the interior.

This is America, that's what we do, we complain when we don't like something.

I got no hate for anybody on here, even the complainers. This what the forum is all about, to voice your opinions.

I am pretty stoked because I need this car to be cheap or I'm going to end up with an Impreza instead. I admit the first thing I thought is oh no Fog Lights? No LED lights? The stereo looks so out of place! ect.


But honestly, with a couple options and a low price tag, even knowing that I couldnt care less about the Scion brand... I still might end up getting the car because of the good mileage, good handling, plenty of space for my needs, and a very stylish body.

i've never bought a scion so i don't understand the whole monospec thing. i was under the impression that monospec meant scion's started with very little and offered a boat load of options. i don't get why everyone's assuming that all the interior extras and hids WON'T be available as options. why wouldn't they?

For me it's not so much cheapening the interior as it's just aesthetically less pleasing. Looks like some marketing whigs figured the HVAC knobs need to be ginormous to suit fat American hands. The offset arrangement of the three knobs just look less elegant than the EDM/JDM versions. Plus the GT-R-esque dials was one of the highlights of the interior for me, and that's gone. Then you have that greyish audio deck, which doesn't at all blend with the rest of the center console. The dash is very retro-upright, then you have this audio deck that tries too hard to be cool. It just looks less cohesive.

Options like HID and whatever I could always add after the fact. But changing out the HVAC controls, that's likely a lot more work.

i love the release of this car because it sticks to scions roots of being modular and letting the owner customize the car. they put cheap crap in it because they wanted to keep price low and why is everyone complaining things can be changed if it's the car you want but it's missing usch minor things you can improve upon those things. the 2010 tc had 5 different options for head units. also the market will become flooded with JDM hvac conrtrols because they are so much better. i highly doubt the car isnt wired for dual climate control.

and who ever asked if they are scion colors they look to be scion colors "hot lava" is the color used by scion for the release series. the xB2 has one the Xd and the original XB RS1.0

The only color with a normal'ish name is also the best one to me, Argento. Love that color even though I don't know what argento means.

Means "Silver" bud Argent is a shade of Silver, it is Silver in I forgot which Language. I think it's Old English for Silver.

They're going to be a rip off as a standard option, so I don't see the difference there...

You're expecting red stitching on seats to come free, well it makes sense if that's the only way they come they won't charge for it but no... Because red stitching is going to cost the .05 more / foot, they will charge the consumer...

The price of the vehicle will go up...

It's all give and take...

For the seats that cost $2000, yes it's a hefty price, but it's the price you pay for exactly what you want... Not something you're going to pay $500 for and still have to compromise on the way it looks... If you just want red stitching, you can have someone reupholster your seats for WAY less than $500...

Do I want to pay for stuff, I most certainly do not... However being a salesperson, I know what value is and I try to sale it everyday... The way the car is made now is the best value...

The car might not live up to your expectations, but if they made the car more expensive to start, and it still don't fit your expectations, which of the two scenarios do you think you're better off in? They might stitch the seats red, but how about if they also stitched a big giant Scion logo on there too? Maybe that's not your cup of tea, but hey all that stitching just raised the car's price $500...

See where I'm going?

It might not be in your best interest to buy a car watered down, but it'll be in your worst interest to buy an inflated car you still don't like...

P.S. We do not know what is stock or not, so really you have no real info to even make judgement on what you don't like on the car yet...

this is the crux of the problem. people who can afford the better interior, in all likelihood, will not even have the chance to pay for it. their monospec business model is bullshit if all of their options are just appearance based.

but all in all im glad because we dodged a BIG bullet in that they did not take away mechanical things like the standard LSD.
