The easiest way I have found to get out is to turn so you can get your left foot out and on the ground and then put your left hand on the door sill and push yourself up and out as you continue to turn. Works great!

well, I'm 45 and i actually bought my BRZ as a pseudo 'family car'. we have a 5-yr old son and when looking around for a new car for ME, i wanted one that i'd be able to put his child seat in the back.

i bought the BRZ to replace my daily driver for the past 28 years - a datsun 280Z (which i'm still trying to sell by the way). so, i've had a 2-seat sports car for a long time and wanted something similar. the BRZ was closest to the Z in spirit (a 'true', non luxury sports car for enthusiasts), but still able to carry my son. i'm not a fan of the 350/370 Z shape.

our other car is a 2013 subaru outback, so i bought my BRZ in the same colour - dark grey metallic. am i too old to drive a sports car? i don't think so. in fact, i think that being older (and more mature maybe) enables me to enjoy the car more without letting my youthful ego take over and not take so many risks. no one wants to get tickets or get into an accident, but not everyone makes the right decision at the right time, so i think that maturity actually helps keep me alive for my kid.

it may sound hypocritical (when talking about safety), but i still ride a motorcycle in the canyons for fun - a ducati 996. however, i got all my speed demons out at the track years ago and have been through my share of motorcycle accidents, and now i just enjoy the ride. same thing with my BRZ - i don't go past my comfort level in the street with it. my startup screen picture on the BRZ is of my wife and kid to remind me that i need to get home at night safely.

by the way, the people that know me and my personality said that the BRZ is a perfect fit for me. must be because i've been a Z driver for so long.

maybe the question should be: are you too young to drive an FR-S/BRZ?

I am 55 years old. My first new car was a Toyota Corolla 2 door, five speed and red. I loved that car. I have worked hard and this is the car I have been waiting for. I love driving this car.

I'm probably one of the younger guys that owns this car (21). Working full time out of college and I like to think I have everything planned out. I haven't really seen many of these cars out in my area, I was one of the first ones to buy one. However, the ones I have seen have been older guys (30-40). I plan on keeping this car until I NEED to get rid of it, wife, kids, etc. Not anytime soon though.

No need to get rid of it. Just play with it, pay it off, and keep it maintained. Can be a great bonding thing with your future kids later as a fun project car--and a great learning tool to teach them about vehicle maintenance, control, safety and fun!!!

You never know, you may find that the things that bring you joy might also bring joy to someone else... like a future wife who never had a reason to love driving/drifting/canyon-running--even if she's only a passenger.

---------------------------

Had a friend tell me I'm 10 years too late to be buying/modding this car (I'm 30), but you know, my dad was into off-roading (and my uncle was/is a speed demon, lol), so he was always modding his Isuzu Amigo (yes, Amigo--more stock HP than a Jeep Wrangler, btw--said he all the time, lol). And he was in his 50's. So, having this car and modding it and going to meets and getting to know other enthusiasts and appreciate their cars makes me feel connected to a part of my dad that I didn't really get to know or understand when I was teenager, but can appreciate now that I'm older and miss him.

It's only good for four or five months.

You can never drive it in the snow unless you wanted to plow the roads.

Then you would get stuck because of the weight of the snow or worse yet, get stuck on top of the snow like I have seen Volkswagon bugs drive through the snow the rise up on top and their wheels spin.

Plenty of people drove through last winter with no problems. myself included. Snow tires and the car is more than capable.

Old and wise....

61 years young my first Toyota was a 1972 Toyota Celica now 45 Toyotas later I'm still loving my cars.

The main thing I like about the FR-S is size over the years a lot of the Toyota cars and trucks have gotten fat and over sized like american cars really I like my little Yodas.....

Your either going to love the FR-S/BRZ or hate it.

In the same boat as you. From another thread, it seems like a third of the forum members are 21-25

56 years old, 6'3" 250 lbs.

Prior cars were an ISF for daily and a Boxster S for fun. I had been waiting for this car for 5 years. When the lease was up on the ISF, I bought the FRS.

I had several Miata. Bought a 99 new and had a 90, and a couple of 92s. Loved those cars, because you could drive the Miata at 9/10s and not endanger yourself or anyone else.

After starting to do HPDE events, I sold the Boxster because I wasn't comfortable tracking a convertible. Bought a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo with intention of tracking it. Before I got it prepped, I took the FRS to the track. I had so much fun driving the FRS, I have aborted the plans to track the 944.

Selling this car to my son, who is 29. My new FRS should be here by the end of this month!

I'm about to turn 60... Shit ! I'm older than dirt...
Been a car guy all my life.. Recently sold off my 08 vette and
My E36 M3... And settled into driving my honda accord which was my
Everyday beater car... Got down to one car.. Thought I would be fine
And content with a grocery getter.. No premium fuel, who cares if its dirty,
Park it anywhere and not worry... WRONG...
I like driving !! I want to have some fun doing mundane shit.. So I picked up an FRS.. This car is more fun than those high HP high dollar garage queens I owned.. It's way more fun to drive a slow car fast.. Than a fast car slow... And because the car is inexpensive to buy and own... I don't have to worry about all the things I did with a car costing 2.5 times the price... Which makes it even more enjoyable... Less is more...
