Scarred front brake discs
I just noticed that both my front discs have become scarred/scored. It's pretty bad. The rear discs are fine. Any idea what caused it? I tracked the car the other day, it was the second time for the car. Didn't have any problems after the first track day. I never really abused the car at the track, I would pit in every 4-5 laps to allow the engine and brakes to cool, and I never used the handbrake after pitting in.
Here's how it looks like currently ![]() Here's how the disc looked like a few weeks ago

looks normal to me. Do any of those marks catch a fingernail?
Stock pads or other? |

Fairly normal, but looks like the pad may be overheating. Even a single lap will overheat stock pads with a decent driver. Time to get proper pads for tracking

Yes these are the stock pads. I can feel those marks when running my finger across the surface.
I'm just curious because when I asked the other 86 guys who also went to the track, they said their front discs look normal with no scarring... |

So consistent hard braking can scar/score the rotor? I was thinking that maybe a few stones got stuck in there when I spun out and went off track trying to drift Lol

I had the same issue with stock brake pads on my first track day. The groves most definitely would catch a finger nail. I'll try to get new pads and/or brake kits for the next track day.http://pellijeff.com/gfx/brakes.jpg

appears normal to me, could possibly come off with enough normal street driving depending on your brake compound.

Two track days on my OEM rotors with aftermarket pads (StopTechs first, now running PMU HC+800's) and I can't catch a fingernail on anything. In fact they still look brand new. I'd never even consider tracking mine with OEM pads, lol.
