Exclamation attention Vortech kit frs/brz owners

I was unwraping my piping from my kit. I tapped one of the pipes on the side of the table as I unwraped it. It made a twang sound. I did again to check and heard the twang again. looked into the pipe and discovered where they drilled the hole for the BOV that the part of the pipe was still inside barely hanging on. NOT the end of the world will be simple to remove with very long needle nose plies.

also i would like to inform people that even if this shaving of aluminum were to dislodge (sp) itself it would only worse case scenario hang itself and be forever contained in the endtank of the intercooler and never make its way to the throttle body. so everbody chillax
but if this where to happen post intercooler and came off you engine would most likely be FRUCKED

stuck my finger in the bov mount hole and carefully swiped my finger in circular motion and VIOLA it came out no tools needed.

Thanks charged86! I learned the hard way a long time ago to always check all my pipes, fittings, and lines for any debris, shavings, loose metal etc.. Good thing you caught it early and thanks for taking the time to post this up

Thanks,
Rick

Friend of mine who owns a VW/Audi specialized shop built his own 02 AUDI S4, rs4 turbos, aftermarket intercoolers, supporting mods, plus engine refresh re ringed etc. put it all together and the intercoolers had aluminum welding slag in them and made there wat to both heads. it didnt blow but ruined his valve train and one head. The company who made the Intercoolers replace his heads with brand new OEM $$$$$$$$$$$$

good nice and round edges. Zero hangy down slag nor misalingment of pipe to pipe merges.

If you would bet that for the majority of companies, you would be a poor man.

it's seriously not hard to run a deburring tool around the drilled hole before welding the stub.

Thank you for drawing attention to this charged86. Mistakes like that are not what got us to where we are today, so we are very sorry that you had to find that in your discharge ducting (although relieved it was discovered prior to installation). A meeting was called this morning with all of our machine shop, deburr, QC, and fabrication departments in attendance. After much tribulation with a bullwhip and a hot poker, we can assure you and everyone that it will not happen again.

Yeah, and despite my lack of interest in a non-TVS supercharger (and general disinterest in superchargers), I think Vortech is a standup company. This is probably the most negative thing I've heard about the company ever, after years of reading forums, and they responded in a day with the right words. I would expect they'd be extra nice to the guy too, maybe send him a smaller pulley or something. Cough!
