2forme, really appreciate the effort you've gone to in reviewing and trialing the different android options out there.

took me a while to figure out what was best (reading thru all your threads) but glad to see with the rooted CA-FI knock off we can get Torque reading really easily and a great physical interface for common stereo functions.

its taken me a few days and a couple of hours to read all your threads but I will be ordering the CA-FI knock off tonight!

Thanks heaps for all your efforts Like others have said it is much appreciated by the wider community!!

Yeah, I'm throwing in the towel on trying AR2. I can probably get it working with my Galaxy Nexus, but it won't charge simultaneously. So, meh. My old Evo would've been ideal as it has a dedicated micro HDMI + micro USB ports . . . and I already had the micro HDMI adapter to standard HDMI cable.

It seemed so promising & least expensive way to a universal Android 'remote desktop'. Tons of BLEH!

I successfully returned the AR2 to Best Buy without any grief. The thing just didn't work consistently. When it worked, it was cool, but the audio constantly cut out & the screen would go fuzzy!

I did get a cool shot of some video feedback!

Sorry it didn't work, man. I used an old EVO 3D which had an MHL port for HDMI and for charging and video. I had similar issues with fuzziness and the radio got confused when I had a regular phone synced and the EVO 3D for Android.

Grab a knockoff! They have capacitive ones now!

Hi. The video is very informative and wonderful. The new alternative of android head unit is great one. I highly recommend against appradio, I returned mine, it is an internet based radio and without service you are SOL, also there is no normal mode to play music from your ipod/device, you MUST be in app mode (a terrible glitchy app with little to no support by pioneer). Pioneer AppRadio 2, Pioneer Android kit and ARLiberator app are multitasking.

Are you referring to the original AppRadio or the AppRadio 2? Reason I ask, is my AR2 was fully capable of playing music from my iPod while mirroring the EVO 3D I had it linked to... and there was no internet connection necessary....

I never tried the original AR, though.

app radio is fine IF you want your phone connected ALL the time.. If the phone is not connected all you have is a fancy FM radio.
