Today I finally got fed up enough with my boss to request a transfer to another section. I've had offers from every other section but I've stayed this long because I like working with the gear. There's four reasons for this really, my boss has been mistreating me using me to do much more then I should capable of time wise and training wise. The other guys have been taking credit for my work. My boss is an absolute idiot, honestly he's two ranks further then he should be and he couldn't organize a pissup in a brewery. And, I really do need to further my training outside of this one section. I've made a point of letting other guys very visibly fall flat on their faces, give it a few minutes and come by to pick up the pieces in an effort to let the higher ups know whats going on. But, I've recently learned where I'm ranking in this years evaluation and it obviously hasn't worked.

This morning I asked one of the other bosses if his offer was still available, he said it was. So I asked my boss and gave the excuse that I needed experience with more of the gear. In a matter of half an hour they talked, set everything up and it was done.

It worked better then I ever would have imagined. My old boss and my new boss setup the transfer, swapping me for a fuckin slug. My old boss and two of the guys in that section were visibly nervious trying to figure out how they were going to keep up with the work I was doing and how to do it. And, my new boss has already told the right people what the real reason for the transfer was, I doubt it could effect last years evaluations but atleast they're seeing it finally.

I get a couple days to give slugface a turnover. After that I'm working with guys that are already excited to have me with them even though they know I've never worked on that gear and I'm going to have a steep learning curve.

Today was a very good day.
I went through something similar about 6 months ago at work.

Doing more than was required of me and taking on special projects while being held back by my boss and having her take credit for some of my work. Working with 'slugs' as you put it.

Tried to move to our field team once before unsuccessfully but worked to impress our VP and he approached me about the transfer.

Much happier now.

Calum, there was a time not too long ago... actually two or three times... in some of the FI tech threads where I was typing out a really long response to your posts referencing your overall tone and lack of constructive input...bleh bleh bleh.

But then I took a fresh look at it from a neutral standpoint and ya know.....I actually think I like you.

Ok, the eh, I get. I've said it, it's mainly an east coast thing but admittedly it can be found throughout the country. But the aboot thing I've never understood. Even after being in various parts of both countries I've never noticed a difference in the pronunciation.

Meh, atleast nobody here is going to ask if you want cheeze on your pancakes.

Aboot is Newfie-speak. Like the abomination above. Can't deny the 'eh', though.

Is it because we gave you Celine Dion and Justin Beaver that you mock us so? We're sorry. Truly. (No amount of apologies can reallyvmake up for that, I know.)
