ohhhhh pretty! and its flat!, Borla didnt get the memo about flanges being flat i guess

Oddly enough flat flanges are integral to a good seal which in turn stops leaks, wow! haha

I wonder when it's released if they will deliberately nerf any low end gains to emphasize dip elimination, as well as compare their stock baseline, to a fully modded and tuned car on E85?

Not that anyone else is doing that, or anything...
Quote:
It's interesting to note how the other guys' baseline vs E85 with full system make the same power below the rpm range where the dip starts. E85 tunes make power everywhere. It's a curious tuning philosophy where they can deliberately make less power to impress people with their dyno curve ...

Have you guys found an approach that is making progress on the last mini-dip? Slight secondary length change? Or trying to look at it from the intake side?
Quote:
Yeah after I saw some of the competition using e85 to accentuate gains, we are highly considering a trip back to the dyno to run E85 to do a direct comparison. Also working on an intake - remember our car is still running the stock filter and airbox.

And that competitor who bit our style, we're still ~15ft lb up on their E85 tuned results. 4-2-1 secondary length is a major advantage to simply running the first half of our design as a 4-1 with effectively a longer exhaust plugged into that and routed up and over.
There is a chance they are all referencing someone else, but most of that lines up with the P&L header. If the thread was read through, it would answer the first few quotes, but in response to the other stuff... well, I don't want to start a flamewar, but here goes.

I posted on the fa20club thread in defense of them vs someone saying they "bit" off P&L. I'll do the same with the P&L header vs these claims.

When doing a 4-1 longtube merge with a front mounted turbo in mind as the endgame, there really isn't much you can do as far as design for the "look" of the header. Not to mention that there was a nearly identical prototype on the P&L turbo car back in June of last year (I saw it in person but was told not to say anything about it).

The claims that any vendor are biting any other vendors design.. even designs that didn't make it to market are asinine.

To address the first 2 posts (by a fan of the other vendor and not the actual vendor). In such a competitive market, why the hell would any vendor intentionally castrate their own product numbers just for a "smooth tq line?" Vendors want to show the power and let the tuners worry about how to smooth it out based on their customers needs.

Additionally, if you also had read the entire thread, you would know that the actual tune was done by other vendors. P&L does not have their own in house tuner. They do source out to a very good tuner, but he comes in from out of states to do specific work, and then he goes back.

The Visconti tune was just a basemap, and the reason to go to E85 was because we found another vendor willing to work with us and E-tune the vehicle. I didn't want to buy a new pumpgas tune because I already had a very good one, it's just that Visconti at the time was very busy and didn't get around to tweaking the map.

The other tune was limited by my schedule. I'm not an employee of the shop, I'm just an end user. With other mods happening to my car I didn't need a tune 100% locked in, just a safe tune that made power, and showed what it could do.

In all, these are going out to end users now who will post dynos, talk about fitment, etc.. and one of the most vocal forum members out there @huehuecotyl will get to play around with my header for free and make a decision. If he likes it, he might buy it. If he doesn't I'm sure he will rip on it in his own fashion, but I'm fine with that.

Thanks. I have read everything from that other thread. Im a big fan of both the P&L and Nameless designs. I think the reference to Nerfing the gains was to the fact that baselines were 91 octane stock and header numbers were tuned with e85. This isn't lowering the gains but the proper test would be 91 or e85 tuned vs 91+header or e85+header tuned.

I see you made very nice gains just with the visconti base tune so that is good to see.

I agree there is only a couple ways you can skin a cat so i wouldn't expect vendors to be complaining.

Fact of the matter is 4-1 and 4-2-1 look to be producing very different results.

For me it is going to come down to price and sound mostly.

Good work P&L you guys have produced a beauty of a header

Just had my header installed by @P&L Motorsports today.
Didn't have the opportunity to play on the dyno since P&L's dyno is booked solid.
The quality of work, product, and customer service is absolutely fantastic with these guys.

I could definitely feel an improvement in the range where the dip is, including all the way to redline.
I already had the P&L overpipe, catless front pipe and an SRT catback installed.
I have a @Visconti tune so that's the next thing that needs to be addressed.

I'm interested so get with @Hawaiian once he get's his header installed to get a better idea on how the P&L catback sounds. It's becoming more and more attractive over the SRT.
What a disappointment that's been..LOL

I've ran fully catless on a WRX, two STis, and a V8 S4. Never did have a problem with stink.
Can someone educate me or give me a link to all this frontpipe, overpipe, midpipe talk?
I'm completely lost.
