^^^^^^ WORDS FROM SCION!!!

This once again confirms how useless it was to sign up at Scion's website for more information.

Which was the 3rd or 4th time I signed up at a Toyota website to be alerted with information and never was.

I don't need a new camry to beat you... my slow car can beat you... in the turns and in the straights. This is to the comment that this car is "plenty" fast. Enjoy it and love it then. I see you have a F4i... I see why we have a difference in opinion. I would rather have a 250ninja than half-ass a 600cc bike or go straight to a 600rr... you're paying for a 600cc bike to get worked by 250 ninjas. I know cuz I've owned both an RR and a 250. Same idea here... you want to pay for a car that should have more guts and complement it's great handling, that's fine, but don't say it's enough power... then I guess NO one will require any performance mods of any kind.

Is it too much to want both? It's 2011, about to be 2012... and HYUNDAI of all people have a car that can do both pretty damn well... so is it wrong for me to wish that toyota did more with this project? I am probably going to buy something else, but I still want to see what Scion did with the GT86. I just hope that the project / ideas / goals weren't HERE, just HERE. If you look at the improvements in the GT-R, for example... they've done SO much since the car's debut in 2009 because they were allowed to expand their ideas (this coming from a car company that could barely make awesome commuter cars)... I want the same thing from toyota. /End my rant

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just voicing my opinion.

I'm sick of you fan-boys who are too scared to criticize the car because of what it's "supposed" to stand for. 200 hp is not fast, PERIOD. I can appreciate those who are honest and at least say, the car's purpose is handling / driving enjoyment... which I do appreciate.

@Torquesteered

197hp isn't underpowered? okay... Yes the world is full of "turns" but even a camry can hug the road just fine at the speed limit, so your point is kinda moot. I'm talking about daily driving mostly when I say, what can you do to "enjoy" that great handling... not much. But that's my opinion.
Thiis arguement goes both ways, I don't feel a need to baby the go pedal everywhere I go with a powerful car, this car is faster then I can legally go as is. I don't enjoy stoplight hopping so this car works for me. It's not underpowered.

Agree to disagree.
I am very anxious though to see what comes out.
I will regardless, try my best to get parts developed for this car, even if I don't own it, because I want to see how far it can go... hopefully into realms we haven't seen before.

I apologize for not sticking to the topic! Sorry to the OP for cluttering the thread...

197 hp is FAR from underpowered for daily driving if that is your point, however, if you would like to compare a V-6 Camry with an "underpowered" Scion tC (162hp 2900 lbs) on the track, I might be able to arrange something at Buttonwillow if you wish to prove another point.

If there is something no one can do, is make everyone happy. Everyone will have something to complain about. This is why aftermarket parts exist. To make it what you want to be! That being said Scion, Toyota, Subaru, I think we can all agree that a "affordable" well designed vehicle is again available to the masses. An open canvas we can all make into our own!

We can all agree to disagree, but let us all agree that something fun for a lot of us will be coming soon.

Anyways sorry for being off topic, I can't wait to see pictures!

The Civic SI will have a hard time trying to pass the 2012 V6 Camry. Seen that thing run 15.1 in the 1/4 mile (on a crappy track).

I expect the FRS to be in the 14's stock.

Power topic has a lot of merit.

There are people who are addicted to boost. Once you go boost you never want to go back. Turbo kit makes such a huge difference its not even funny. Especially when you have other power and performance add ons too. People who are addicted to horse power make comments like "200hp is nothing". And let me explain you something lads: given the right application in the right conditions 200hp can go a very long way. For example my truck only has 236 hp and it goes from a to b, accelerates halfway decent and is capable of hauling and towing. Likewise honda vans have about 250hp and can also accelerate, carry people, luggage etc. That DOES NOT make either anywhere as fun as a turbocharged high horse power vehicle.

And then there are more practical people who start off with "200hp is enough for me" and trust me for most applications it will be enough. Enough to get you from a to b, enough to drive in traffic but it will not raise your pulse level every time you step on the gas. It will accelerate smoothly without pushing your eyeballs into back of your head. In car world most car enthusiasts in this category inevitably succumb to desire to be faster and WILL ask the following question: "How do I make it go faster?" and "Why will it cost me a lot of money to make my car go faster?"

So as far as I am concerned... 200hp is really not that much if you want to have fun in the car every time your foot pushes on that accelerator pedal.

There is always FI or a little shot of nitrous if you have to have more power. Looking at the latest pictures of the engine bay and I am pretty sure we will be seeing FI kits in the near future. For now though 200+ hp is just fine. Godzilla35 I am sure alot of cars feel underpowered compared to your GT-R.

Sorry, I don't own a Camry and I'm guessing your car's not stock either? I was talking stock v. stock. I don't want to put money on it, but I'm guessing a stock V6 will still take a stock tC, no offense, again... but it's probably true. Especially if we're talking newer camrys... I hear they're not slow (like my 96 was ;P). If we meet at Buttonwillow someday, I'll be giving it a go in my GT-R or my next new car... or even perhaps in a FR-S, WHO KNOWS?!

p.s., this can all be just bitterness because I hear the $25,000 number being thrown around... if it's somehow $22,000 or less... THROW EVERYTHING I SAID OUT THE WINDOW.
