I don't think I've ever felt animosity towards an engine bay before...

Save yourself the possibility of getting things sucked into the engine...buy this: http://www.perrinperformance.com/brz...brz-inlet-hose
It is an actual performance part and will delete the sound tube and give you a couple of horsepower to boot.

Well, you were right! Here it is, the whole stinking thing... The whole time, on my damned skidplate. There's nothing in my engine... SOo happy!

Must have been warm and sticky when I parked it last night, then dried up and fell off overnight or right when I started it.

thats defintely good to hear, now go on and buy those 29.99 plugs!

BTW, that is NOT a skid plate down there. It's meant to allow for proper airflow, also prevents dirt and stuff from getting into the engine bay. Don't try using it as a skid plate. LOL

You will want this if you want it to be a proper skid plate

Not to derail, but is this actually worth getting? Also I'm just getting into modifying and I'm not sure what else needs to be done in order to get the most of out intake products. Do we need to tune it? I'm a noob at this stuff still. I can replace parts mechanically no problem -- effects I'm clueless at times.

Especially when I feel that the last couple of intake mods dropped torque from my previous cars. (injen for the camry, and AEM for my celica)

Perrin showed very small positive increases with the inlet tube and a stock tune. I have found that I get better gas milage because I can run at lower rpms more comfortably since the sound tube resonated between 1500 and 2000 rpms.

I'm totally confused, again, and when I get confused I come off as a jerk, so here I go...

What did you all drive before the BRZ/FRS, Buicks? Are the twins considered so "noisy" that we have to resort to sifting through the recycling bin to quiet them down? I hear nothing bothersome coming into the cab that would require this kind of "modification" Unless of course you consider a pleasant growl from a performance engine to be bothersome....?
