But to answer your question. Its because it hasnt been done. You can all claim to have bought the car because its superior handling characteristics, or because you are "true" 86 fans, but lets face it, very few of the people on this forum would have bought an 86 back in 86 (if you were old enough to do so). You probably bought the car because you liked the way it looked, or because you enjoyed the idea of a fun and relatively inexpensive sports car that finally had great styling. I get it. I however bought the car because it was a new exciting platform to make power. My original intentions were that if I could not make power with the FA20 then I would find a power plant that would. However, so far the turbo has given me the power that I needed. Now I want to see what it can do. So as per my original request, no more lecturing on what this car was "built" for, or how dangerous or silly it is to want to go fast. Deep down everyone on here wants to shut down the Z owners, or the domestic car owners by saying more than just..."lets take it to a race track and see who wins". You guys dont drive on racetracks to work, but you do drive a car that looks fast...might as well have one that is fast as well.

There's always gonna be someone faster. I would get really good tires and a great aligment and go get that record today. Because any import shop with that wants that record can have it tomorrow. Someone could go full retard and put a ls1 with rearmount turbos and high gears in a frs next week and possibly hit 200mph

Lowering it will give you more downforce, less air resistance, and perhaps add some stability.
You're right, except without super computers and a wind tunnel to study the aerodynamic qualities of the add-ons, you'll just be guessing... and guessing...

I don't really get the OP's point of asking the question, then trying to justify it by telling everyone to not discuss the safety factor, or the reality factor... Why not just go do it, and report back? I bet 165, aerodynamically limited... but, just a guess.

The OP wan't asking how to do it. He asked if anyone had seen a faster documented time other than the 151mph which was limited by horsepower. I can understand his asking not to bitch about safety because people fill up a thread making ignorant comments ruining what could be a good thread with useful info. Most of those guys have never seen track time or actually pushed the limits of a street car.

The OP was looking for documented times for BRZ/FRS like top speed or standing mile.

The op had his car 2 weeks before gutting interior to install a roll cage, doubling the horsepower, and upgrading suspension/tires. The reality factor is that with a few tweeks he has the perfect setup to break the BRZ top speed record. Hes not trying to break the standing mile world record. Ford GT demolished it and it would take 200k dollars to attempt to break that record.

What he can do is be the FIRST to put down a top speed number or standing mile.

I say shoot for 165 as well. It should be attainable with your current mods. Maybe turn the boost up to 10psi for the run, Im just sayin.

Aren't there V8 builds in these cars pushing 600hp, gutted and caged? Just wondering what title you'd hold? Fastest FA20 FRS? Fastest street legal FRS? There's a ton of wild builds out there that have aimed at peak hp. I'm sure those cars easily blow past 151mph.

I will respond as I please, you don't make the rules.

In 86 I had an MR2 because of the handling and I wasn't coveting any other car on the road unless it had better handling. Forget what you think people probably bought this car for, I don't think you "get it".

Platform for power? please.........

"Deep down everyone on here" should speak for theirself.

You shouldn't want to drive so fast, it's too dangerous.

Pretty sure the top speed that anyone has taken this car is 87mph. Because everyone knows if you go 88mph in a car you will just go back in time.

I believe Archetype is trying to achieve top speed record with the FA20 installed and no other motor..I know it can reach 200, anything is possible with a turbo engine and some changes to the frame.. but yeah good on you man.. people should be seeking and exploring ways to improve on the car, thats how it gets better! Dont hate because hes being a Pioneer of the car, Join him!
