Spring Kit pad rattle?

Yesterday, I installed the Sprint kit (with Ferodo DSUNO pads) and all went ok. When I test drove the car I noticed that there is noise coming from the front wheels on bumps and imperfections on the road. The noise is similar to the noise you get when the strut mounts or some other suspension component are a bit loose. I took the wheels off, checked all nuts, bolts and connections and everything seemed rock solid. Then when I rotated the rotors back and forth I noticed that the pads where moving up and down and hitting the caliper and making a knocking noise. The backplate of the pad is smaller than the vertical space in the caliper. I believe this is what is causing the noise.

To be on the safe side I wanted to check with Jeff and other owners here. I know the Sprint kit is a competition kit and doesn't have some anti-rattle instrumentation, but this sounded a bit too much. Is this rattle normal? Can the rattle be a bit more with the DSUNO pads? If it is normal, is there anything I can do to mitigate it? Roads are terrible where I live and it gets quite annoying with this sound on every little bump.

I haven't used ferodo pads yet with the sorint kit but some movement is normal. The pads have to be slightly smaller for heat expansion.

Dave, does your car have the same noise I'm talking about? I have had people sit in the car with me, even experienced racers they were like, what is wrong with the front suspension? It is really very hard to miss.

Mine does in reverse and the occasional bump. Some pads (like CL pads) are worse as they are smaller than others due to their expansion rates. Mine is noticeable but its quieter by a large margin than the whiteline com-c top hats are

May I ask which brake shims are those? Are you using them for better heat management or noise reduction?

Got them from hardbrakes.com They are titanium and yeah they are for heat management. Suppose to keep the calipers cooler

Just another data point on fitment using the Sprint template; Enkei Fujin 17x7.5 with +40 offset has adequate clearance (gap in template was taken into account):

The Enkei Fujins will replace the stock wheels as the daily drivers.

I have some old 17x7 +42mm (if I remember correctly) offset Enkei Racing RS-5's I need to try the template with sometime (they are currently on my brothers Impreza 2.5 RS).
