Expect traffic. LAX area at 7pm? Not the greatest, but better than 5pm. If you allow time, the traffic does eventually move - it's quite rare to be stuck going nowhere for an hour (unless there's a bad accident, or rain).

That said, Google maps directions gives you a "with traffic" time as well, so it's easy to plan. (check out sigalert.com before you hit the roads to find accident and traffic info).
