And if you want to talk shit....my 86 vs your 86 and my Supra vs your Supra. These cars are begging to be modded and pushed and you guys all hate the ones that want to do it. Henessey did it with the Venom GT....he realized that power to weight is the key so he strapped a Twin Turbo LSX in a lotus based frame....I'd say that's a giant leap for every car enthusiast. So go play it safe with your warranty and I'll show you what this car can do. So go hate elsewhere and come up with something more clever next time bc your shit was weak. |

Top speed will be dictated by the gearing, as shown above, if you can overcome the drag. Otherwise, time to start changing other stuff.

If we pursue it further then we will change the gearing accordingly but for now we will just stick with the stock gearing. |

I dont get all the hate for the OP, he wants to see what the top speed is. I would be interested to see where the gear/drag limitation comes into play on a boosted car.
And who cares where he does it? he posted "closed course" so what if its a CYA move or not... Go for it buddy, break 170! |

Which land speed record are you looking for? The current holder of fastest production car is the Hennessey Venom GT, clocking in at 265.7 mph. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is actually capable of reaching 270 mph, but the actual production model is de-tuned to about 258 mph so the tires don't disintegrate.
The Venom GT is powered by a twin turbocharged 7.0 liter V8, built on a heavily modified Lotus Exige chassis, and is controlled by a number of computer systems that adjust ride height and aerodynamics for the most down force. Hennesey claims that it can actually reach 272 mph, but that they didn't have the actual proper environment to reach that speed. They only had an airport runway to do it on. Bugatti has the luxury of being able to use Volkswagen's private track that is specifically tailored to reach the Veyron's top speed. So that's what you have to contend with. Of course, if you are modifying your car then you are not eligible for the fastest Production Car record since your car won't be available for the general public to buy. Unless of course you can start your own multi-million dollar car manufacturing company. Since you would have to modify your car, you would be counted in the general Wheel-driven land speed record. In which case your competition is the Speed Demon streamliner. That is powered by a turbocharged hemi and it is basically a carbon fiber arrow that cuts through the air. It has a top speed of 439.562 mph and was achieved at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I am not trying to crush your dreams, just trying to be realistic. If you're looking for the Guinness World Record, you have to think of weight, aerodynamics, power, tires, the track, gearing, computers, and even the general climate. All of these factor into generating the most speed and can make or break your attempt. It not only requires determination, but skill and a whooooole lot of money. It might be easier if you're using a different governing body of world records, maybe one that has more specific categories like "Fastest car under X amount of money". Try to find a record that you can actually hit with your resources, or even a personal record. Though if you're really willing to go all the way, then I suggest making it a long term project that you can slowly invest into and keep up-to-date with the latest advances in automotive technology. Really, the only thing that the twins are equipped with that is in your favor is the lightweight chassis. You have a lot work ahead of you. |
