I think people are too worried about the badge on their hood and not the actual car. I mean this is just insane. In terms of entry level luxury it seems like this could be filled be either a 4 door FRS with more power or moving up the tC into that role (as it is sort of lost as Scions sporty car now that the FRS is here.) Scion could easily become FRS based with a sedan, drop top, and hatch. Adjust interior quality accordingly.

I originally planned to purchase FRS under toyota and they changed route to Scion.
I disappointed and went with Subaru BRZ. (can't justifiy myself driving Scion brand with my age)

I don't think FRS under Lexus doesnt make sense to me since it's already launched vehicle in market. suddenly FRS is now under Lexus? lol who would buy even all nice option / new features added.
I would. But it never gonna happen. Team Lexus has their own mind. They are going with LF-LC into production, and will be more likely a 6 digits. Probably in the range of NSX

The Entry Lexus Coupe will be the GS....and that thing is 50-70k

I never recall any Lexus being cheaper than 30k.....FR-S will never get there. Unless 2JZ engine in FRS Platform with/without turbos, and Lexus adds on. But now, we are looking into 50-70k.

Why would Lexus Fight it's own GS ? while FR-S being sold like fresh shrimps on the market ? Doesn't make sense.

interesting idea... i can see that happening in the future.
afterall they did make many variants of the Prius, what's to stop them from doing it to the FRS?

kind of like the g35/37s want a coupe get a coupe, need more room... then sedan

Scion is wholly owned by Toyota, so that's completely impossible. Not to mention, even if Scion were an independent company, there would be massive shareholder lawsuits over that kind of decision.

This. I'm slowly making my BRZ Limited into a GT-86 Limited. If it would've just came over as a Toyota, that's what I would be in, badge-wise.

People have been writing 5 paragraph essays in here without even googling the story.

If it is true it would be a big screw up by Scion to let the news be published on the 1st. It kind of shows that they aren't taken very seriously, if people assume its a joke.

What scion needs to do is become the fun brand of toyota. They are currently viewed as the cheap brand.

They already have a fun RWD car, they need to have more of these purpose built cars.

They need at least two purpose built off road vehicles that the FJC wasn't. Something to compete with the 2 and 4 door wranglers, maybe even a truck version, all with solid front axels. Like the tacoma, but more purpose built to bring excitement for the Toyota Brand.

This should be their vehicle lineup IMO
2-3 Versions of the FRS.
1. How the FRS is currently
2. Convertible.
3. Shooting brake/4 door version.

2-3 Off Road vehicles
1. 2 Door
2. 4 Door
3. Truck

Thats a six vehicle line up while still keeping everything simple and built off two platforms to keep costs relatively low.

Then TRD can come in and offer performance upgrades for all of these 6 vehicles, that only have 2 different engines and similar drivetrains and platforms.

at this point it seems like Scion is having an identity crisis.

-They boast about having "customization' as their main focus, yet they only provide minimum options, bland colors, and nothing more. I mean on the east coast Fog lights are an option on the FR-S while the mid-west and West coast don't get it at all.

-they're models (save for the FR-S) are just bland.I mind most of the time many people prefer the 1st gen scions to the current gen scions (you should see how many gen 1 xB's there are across Tulsa). So they're styling needs to be more 'striking' like they originally were.

-Lack of a compact truck is also something Scion needs to survive. as of right now there's little to no affordable compact trucks in the market. I said in another thread they need something the Hilux from the 80's to help scion stay afloat.

so in short Scion don't need to go with the affordable luxury. they just need more choices, better looks, and a compact truck

Maybe this is their plan to slowly move more upmarket with every new car they release...so that the new Supra can be badged as a Scion
