That torque dive at high rpm is just atrocious. If the production kit is like that I'm going with a Vortech. I hope they can do something about that.

Positive displacement supercharger s moved a fixed volume (0.96l in this case), per rev. They boost off of idle. The engine literally just thinks its a bigger NA motor. Perfectly (in theory) linear power, same as NA.

I think you may be confusing centrifugal blowers with positive displacement, in which context you would be correct.

Just to expand on the "in theory" for anyone that cares.

Unfortunately there will still be an output curve to both of the positive displacement compressors used here, as in the engine and the twin screw SC, due to restrictions and internal harmonics. These will no doubt effect each other. How, well have to wait and see.

One more thing---the 500hp blower option I think will be worth the wait. There's flat torque, and then gargantuan torque.

Those MINIs I mentioned are making good hp because their torque looks so good. That dip on the top end of the Cusco dyno graph could be any number of restrictions. Carrying the torque a little higher in the rpm band is what makes the hp look good. That flat torque is what makes it FEEL good. Some of the mini tuners agree that high 11s are in sight with the 210 using a built motor, tuning, and E85. Their little 1.6s are making over 3hp/ci.

I'm about to buy my BRZ and keep eyeballing the auto. I don't know how tough these auto trannies are or if there are any programming options for them. do they use an external TCU or is control built into the factory PCM? I don't like to lift, either.

With the help of my (Japanese) wife, dug up some older information (January 21st) that I dont remember seeing and figured I would stir the pot a little.

http://ameblo.jp/apboss/entry-11452442743.html

Basically has no new information (it was all released in January), but it did include a picture I thought I might share, included below. Note: in the article, the writer states that they feel the M torque curve could be flattened out with bolt-on mods and/or more tuning.

I know I won't be phrasing this right, but what I got from P&L is that the autos suffer serious problems with high power/boost . Shifting bogs down among other problems. They were trying to get that resolved.

I drove the P&L, wow, its fun as heck in a manual where you control gearing, holy mother of god loud too, so quite the head turner indeed, just milliseconds of lag. I did note that systems increase in TQ over mine, for sure. I'm not sure I would want to go lower in TQ than I am today, but this kit DOES give you a bunch of TQ way earlier than mine, so I wonder how that feels, having almost full TQ hat half of redline. I am indeed eager and curious to drive this thing!

on an Auto, I can see tho how non linear power delivery can mess with a Automatic tranny's logic, cause it to 'hunt' etc. Wonder how the ' double peak ' looking TQ curve from this PD will work with the auto's...keeping boost down may be the ticket and this may be a great option for the auto guys, that may be the reason for the graphs being what they are, a great happy medium with that full on rush up front down low! Tho,I imagine smooth and linear will be an easy match for the automatics, this will be interesting to watch

this shouldn't be an issue once the tuning is figured out. that dip in torque indicates something is clearly wrong. i understand all 86's have a 'torque dip', but that's in the wrong place (right?) and sharper/more exaggerated. i would suspect tuning issues. didn't visconti say the torque curve was super flat with his tuning?

I want to apologize to the community for our lack of communication. We are working day and night on the validation of our new supercharger kit. We are making progress, but nearly as fast as we originally projected. I will work towards providing the community with a new useful update shortly (within the next 5 business days). Until then, thank you so much for your interest.
From YouTube. So anyone hear anything? Apparently they were supposed to give an update yesterday.
