You missed the point. First, there's nothing embarrassing about being slow. Period. Your first track day is always a humbling one, and the Porsche driver is to be commended for bringing the car out to the track. Here are the embarrassing points:

1) There are different skill level run groups in an HPDE. The GT3 driver did the typical egotistical move and placed himself in a more advanced run group than he belonged in. Watch the 'trackday' comedy video I posted and you'll understand. The GT3 driver embarassed himself because of his ego and not because of his driving speed/skill
2). Ft86 club should be embarassed for trying to pawn that video off as a testament to the capabilities of the FRS. Nobody here thinks for one second that a track prepped FRS can hold a candle to a stock Gt3.

I always commend the $$$ Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo guys for even coming out to HPDE type events. I can't imagine how nervous I would be to push my $150K+ car knowing anything can happen at those events. I've seen guys hit oil/coolant dumped by some crapbox car in front of them take damage even when they aren't really pushing that hard.

The mods really should fix the link title.

You can't say for sure that the driver of the Porsche sucks. Maybe he was just chillin'.

Title is fine now, the video is great and has some good highlights. But the difference in performance is incredibly obvious between the two, FR-S is more or less just chasing rather than actually battling. I hope pcasso87 can get his rig all fixed up soon, he is a big inspiration on these forums for guys tracking their FRS/BRZ.

Personally id love to see a Fully track prepped FRS/BRZ vs a fully track prepped GT3 RS.

I guess GT300 BRZ videos would just have to suffice for now

It's sad that you even have to point out what is otherwise "common sense" to track junkies. Takes a track junkie to know the difference I guess. Noobs will get the wrong idea that's for sure.

It would be no different really. If a guy can afford a $30k car and run it pretty hard and be fine with it, someone with significantly more money can look at his $150k car the same way.

Agreed, here's what was left of another guys 911 from the same HPDE.
I also drove in this event and it seemed like many of these guys were frightened of their high HP cars, probably for good reason.

I always look at it this way...."You know they are trying to compete with you when they come up to you and ask you how you were able to run so fast". At the track the car takes a sorta back seat to the driver. That's why I love the track much more than seeing street cars go at it (where it's all about the car really). When you beat a guy at the track, you know that "you" are better than "he/her". Don't matter the machine. Not every driver is equal. And since you don't always get the name of the person you drove better than, you usually just identify them by the car that you out "drove".

Honestly, those gearchanges made me want to cry. Please.. There are much better vids around. Not using the full width of the track sometimes when you clearly should, you are too gentle on steering input. It looks like this car needs abit more 'flick' into the corners. And learn to SLAM those AP brakes, braking could be so much later and harder..

He could have easily been much faster!

To me, this vid really shows what the FRS is capable of! Properly driven by Mark Slide Squad. (Forum)

The title is not fine. You still don't get it. An FR-S can't even chase a car like that. It's not remotely in the same league, and to say it is 'hunting' an RS4.0 make you guys look absolutely silly.

We all know that the FR-S is a very capable track car, especially with a few track-spec upgrades. Just how well does a track prepped FR-S compare against the high performance 997 GT3 at the Circuit of the Americas track? See for yourself after the jump.
And relax everyone, the title says “hunts” not “passes” or “beats.”
Leave it as is if you want to diminish ft86 club's credibility. You're still suggesting that a modified FRS can keep up with a GT3. That is not true.

Why? It would be a massacre. You know that, right? I'm getting the impression you don't know what kind of lap times a FRS pulls and a GT3 pulls, and you've never tracked a car before to know that the skill level of the driver is a huge factor here.

Chasing is correct, why? because more than half the video highlights the FR-S following the 911 around the track. If it had been a Viper, a Veyron or a Zonda, or even a civic up front the title would still be the same. I believe you add the connotation of a "competitive chase" to the term. I don't see anyone else make the same distinction that you do.

You make it sound like the staff have the authority on the community when you say "ft86club credibility". We are just average people and we only provide a service for the community to gather. The quote you provides did not at all suggest a modified FRS can keep up with a GT3, i believe you are adding more context to the subject that just simply does not exist. I know you're looking out for correct information to protect people learning or the ignorant, but your bringing the disagreement to a higher level than nessesary.

Iv tracked, and have plenty of seat time in various cars, i know generally the performance of both cars. I also follow series racing and know that fully tracked cars in the same class blur the lines on the requirements to take a win or a top finish.

But that wasn't what i was asking, all i wanted was to see fully tracked FRS and GT3, just to see it. not to make bets, not to see the gt3 "massacre" it or the FRS the pass it. I just wanted to see it. I care not of the results, I only care to see the potential of a middle brow car with only less than 1 year on this earth vs a car with years of engineering and top notch performance.

again, I get what your saying, but your thoughts are completely unfounded especially when you tried to interpret my post.
