They look like they don't have have enough transparency and gloss to me. The reflections on it aren't very sharp and cheapen the look of the tail light IMHO. Maybe it's the darker color chosen and the camera/light combination.

v.s.

It's simply the angle of the picture. In person it is not cloudy and is very transparent. Its a nice red and very glossy. Also, in this picture they were not polished yet. Just simply put on after being clear coated. They look fantastic in person. I'll try to get some clearer shots soon and I'll post them up.

I want to all-red my tail lights like you guys, and I don't like the idea of a vinyl cover or tint material, just doesn't look "stock". So I'm looking for a place to get it professionally painted.

I was referred to a guy who said he in fact couldn't do it because it would come out pink and there's no way to spray it red dark enough to look stock. Obviously seeing all your pictures he's wrong but is there any validity to him or is he just B.S.?

Second, what type of shop should I look for to do it? I live in Arizona.

Thanks!!!

I'm been talking to a couple of places and all I keep hearing is that if they are painted red they will just come out pink. They're afraid to do it and suggest I use vinyl to make it red.

What are you guys doing that these people don't know? Is it a specific paint or technique? Any info is appreciated!

I suggest they don't understand how to do it properly. Find a custom autobody shop. Or send them to me

I did mine with VHT, I did them extra thick as I wanted to be able to wet sand and polish them to a shiny finish without clear coat. I'm sure they're darker/cloudier than some would like but there is no cracking or weirdness and they will be easier to reverse if I decide to go a different route.

Here's what they turned out like:
