I expect that it will just fall apart around the engine like most high mileage cars do. Though at some point it will become an old low price sports car. Nickle and dime.

this is what car washes are for. if ya dont get the salt off of 'em,then yes,you CAN kiss it goodbye, and it won't take long either!

Yeah that's why i'm going to put my FR-S away during winter.

I'm confident that Toyobaru will last long as long as you take good care of it. But I like to abuse my FR-S from time to time so hopefully after 150,000 miles would be perfect for me.

They have a Subaru high mileage club on the net,...since both cars BRZ/FRS are both made by Subaru I would expect the same results if well maintained,......check it out.....

I am new to subaru and currently have two camrys a celica and corolla that are well maintained and go well. One of the camrys has done 360 000 kms.
My only concern with the BRZ is how the beep can the spark plugs be replaced?

The AVO shop 2007 Outback 2.5i that we did the turbo kit prototype and testing on had about 174,000 miles on it when we started, and 200,000 miles on it when it was sold to it's new owner. They are still driving it around.

Yea I already have rust all over the place. Drove it through this awful winter but washed it probably once a week. Also doesn't help that my girlfriend lives on a dirt road. Sand everywhere! There was some rust on the wheel hub when I took off my winter wheels.

Pretty sure that other than making your car go faster due to lighter wallet, car wash aint going to do a thing for extending the life of whats under the car. Quite the opposite, it is going to force stuff into nooks and crannies where is has not yet reached.

Certainly if you paid to oil the underside, the high pressure is just washing off the oil right?

I know some of you already think I am nuts, but oil the car in the fall and just drive it all winter. Save your money. Wash it in the summer if it makes you feel better somehow.

With the exception of hot lava, all fr-s paint codes are subaru

They hold up, but it really depends on how its maintained and driven. Abuse the hell out of it and don't maintain it, and it will never see 100k.

Drive it normally, perform the maintenance exactly how the manual states, I would expect 200k miles.
I maintain, but beat. By the time the proper (IMHO) use of the engine catches up with it, I'll be able to buy a used JDM one with ~40k miles and a transmission for ~$1500 or so if I still have the car at the point.

I live in the land of salted roads, so 200k+ miles isn't in the cards anyway unless I want to drive around like Fred Flintstone.

You have to take into account of the Highway Driven or Locally Driven FRS. I would safely Assume that Locally Driven is 3x as much as Highway Driven.

For example, a car which does 90% highway driving at 400,000 Miles would Equal to a 90% Locally driven at 120,000 Miles.

Why ? Because the Mechanical of the Engine Moving Part were all designed to Float in a Thin Film of Oil, where the Environment is Near 0 friction, or friction free. A constant Oil Flow (highway driving) will not affect the Parts, however a non constant Oil Flow (stop, and Go Traffic) will affect it.

I do believe Subaru is Reliable, and I trust Toyota. They put all of their Concept Engine into Strained out Test on Reliability, and under different conditions to decide whether or not to get into production. Once they do, trust Toyota.

Most of Toyota cars will Rot Before the Engine is shot
