I used Weldbond. Dries clear and very strong, but removable if needed. I already re-did my emblem, 2nd time came out perfect.

Soooooooooo

I jumped to my local junkyard - and cut Toyota logo from Toyota Corolla airbab along with background. Got home - removed it from the plastic / rubber background - and found out that Scion logo is smaller then Toyota sign... Hmmmm

I removed Scion logo from airbag, and started cleaning place for the new logo background. Used my dremel with sanding head to clean out all the unesesary plastic, and to make surface clean and flat.

After sanding down scion logo background - it was time to trim down Toyota logo back cuz it was a bit too thick. So sanded it down as thin as posible to make new Toyota logo sit flush with the surface.

Sanded Toyota back as flat and thin as posible:

Once got everything even and flush - used some superglue to glue backround in place.

Once background is glued - i did the same with the Toyota logo Its sitting nice and flush now.

All the work took me like 30 min And its well worth it over buing 86 airbag

Will get better pics once i put back my interior:

Damn you should go into business
doing this..I so want this!

Not sure where people are getting the ideas how an airbad deploys...

But at junk yards I been too, I have only seen air bags that rip through "three" seams. They are located on the sides of the logo and on the top or bottom (Almost all times it has been on top). So in the end you get a single flap that opens either upward or downward.

If you are extremely worry, then use a little epoxy if you are too insecure or rather just don't mod at all.

Example:

This thread covers everything except for taking off the steering wheel cover. Is it necessary to remove this piece before attempting to remove the scion emblem of can it be done without taking off the airbag??

Wow extremely clean install! I went with the 86 bag last year and very happy with it but this looks very impressive. Thanks for sharing for others to do the same.

Search. There is a DIY thread on how to remove the airbag. It's actually fairly easy, only requires a flathead screwdriver and takes maybe 5 minutes max.

Where did you get the 86 airbag from, and how difficult was it to install

Did you get a shop to install it for you

Ordered it from japan. Extremely easy to install. I posted a DIY on it in the DIY section.

Can you please measure the emblem?
I found a Toyota airbag emblem sticker on eBay that is 63mm X 41mm

http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/...0,0,0&format=0
Will have to cut the pegs off
