How long would you expect coilovers to last?
Just wanted to open up a discussion about how long one might expect a set of quality coilovers to last until requiring a rebuild compared to say, the expected life out of a stock suspension setup.
Of course there are a lot of variables but I think it's a good thing to discuss because this sort of thing has to factor into one's decision of whether or not to go down this road. Why not even compare what we might expect with a different option of say a Koni insert with a lowered spring.

I'd like to hear some feedback from others who have used coilovers in the past. I am on the fence right now about purchasing a kit for my fr-S.

the springs have 1million mile warranty, and their koni struts have life time warranty. |

The dampers will need to be rebuilt eventually.

A warranty is against manufacturing defects, etc. Not against wear and tear. The springs should last forever unless (really) abused, but all shocks would need to be rebuilt/replaced at some point.

Reminds me of reading about an IS300 with around 110k miles on it with 70k on TEIN coil overs. The owner had them rebuilt and powder coated to almost brand new by TEIN. Not sure what it cost him though.

Tein does rebuilds in their US hq here in CA. It's around $5-600 for a full rebuild.
