By the way, I saw you have a Mitsubishi Mirage. Did you see the new Mirage announced today? Supposedly gets 40MPG combined - best gasoline non-hybrid on the market. Should be a good girl car or beginners car.

Yup, saw that. The good old Rages are gone. Maybe they'll release the rumored evo version down the road. Even if they do, chances are we won't get it in the states just like all the other performance versions of the Mirage.

I actually don't mind my stock FR-S head unit. It looks ugly, but functions pretty well. I like well organized buttons, I dislike touch screens for car. We had a rental Lincoln and I absolutely hated the center console with touch screen and soft touch buttons. Could not accurately control the climate control and other functions.
The only thing I really don't like with the stock head unit is lack of good tone controls. I've actually gotten use to the buttons where I can do most functions without looking at it.
I have an aftermarket Pioneer HU thats much more stylish and has a full color LCD, but I haven't bothered to switch it in. The main thing holding me back is the stock HU bluetooth has been usefull for me.

Yeah, I was just thinking about how far downhill Mitsubishi has gone. In the 90's they had a full line up of vehicles like Honda, Toyota, and Nissan, and were extremely innovative with things like gasoline direct injection, active differentials, active aerodynamics, and active suspension, all wheel drive, turbos, and super cool looking cars that were all affordable (under $40k). Plus, they were winning championships like WRC and the Dakar rally... But now they have only 2 model lines, the Lancers and the Outlanders (and the incoming Mirages) and have abandoned a lot of their technologies and their sporty heritage. It makes me really sad.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic post.

I agree. The silver seat belt strap with the black and red seats along with the now blue everything lighting glowcrap inside is horrific...

Nah, somebody at the factory loaded the wrong color belt so they decided it'll cost more to go back and replace with the correct black ones.

Edit: @OrbitalEllipses, his link is MUCH more reasonable.

Those are cheaper than GR STI headlights, which are $700 each.
That was for switches, lights, the works.

So no word on any other enhancements for the 2014 year model? Suspension? Chassis? Drivetrain?

This thread is exhausting. Sure the headlights and push button start is awesome (I would certainly enjoy those features) but all those who are rustled need to realize that this is going to continue for a LONG time. We did all purchase a first year vehicle, until its swan song the car is only going to get updated, more hp, additional changes, and perhaps a second generation. Take solace in knowing that you do have a first year vehicle and, in general, the first year is rather collectible.

I think the biggest issue I have with the FR-S is how the silver/blue clashes with the red interior detailing. If they redid it all to blue, I think it would work out. For now, I'll just dream of an expensive HID/HVAC/NAV conversion.

Sadly (?), that's actually a decent looking shift knob. Wonder how tough it would be to switch out to red LEDs and black out the Scion logo? Or does Pep Boys already have generic ones in stock? (I never shop there, as I buy Jasmine rice in 10 pound bags at the food store...)

So - the $5k question: what's the up charge for this limited edition Scion? And do dealers try to add on additional markups (dealer add on air freshener for $3k?) on special release editions?
