We have completed a how-to-video for our re-mapping procedures. It can be viewed by following the link below.

Sorry for being quiet… took a week off to relax and watch some baseball. To answer some of the questions that came up while I was gone…
Launch control… each map has a single rpm value for launch control, but that value can be anything you want. Tony at Unichip Wholesale tells me he’s ready to go with 4000, 4500, and 5000 rpm launch control maps but he’ll create whatever somebody wants. If you want multiple options at your fingertip, just load maps with different values into the different Unichip map locations and you’re ready to rock. Tony tells me he’s also about to release a nitrous control set up as well… Expanded Flux2 PID’s… we’re waiting on our firmware guy to complete another project and then he's back onto Flux and the first task is adding more OBD items. Oil temperature will be included. AEM CAI map family… the car’s been down for a little bit with a cracked radiator which we had to get replaced. That’s done, the car’s back, and the AEM map is the next bolt-on going on the car. Cheers |

Thanks Jack..I'm hoping to test the AEM map before bolting on the header so I can make an accurate 1 to 1 comparison.
For anyone interested in turbos, I spoke with Toxic Detail and Performance out of the Charlotte area of NC. They begin to tune a turbo set up with Unichip but ran into some issues. They thought it was either the unit or wiring because it never could get up and running. Long story short the customer wanted to get the car on the road so they opted to use EcuTek (instead of spending time troubleshooting). They said they are still interested in tuning with Unichip, just waiting on a customer to step up with the requirement. I'm hoping to see more down the road. Here is a link to their turbo teaser. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32016

Just revisiting my question I had earlier. Starting to get concerned about multiple maps being the same. |

I'll make an educated guess that with the same MAF placement the tuner couldn't see a big enough change in the airflow to require tuning out inefficiencies any more than they had already addressed in the stock map? Jack will have to step in and make the final verdict on this but that is my garage mechanic know-how telling me that much... Im an Airaid intake owner and can without a doubt say that this tune addresses any issues I had with it. Response is back and the revs climb much more freely. |

Map variances… sorry I missed this while catching up. Two maps can be “data” identical but “functionally” different while two other maps can contain very different data but be functionally identical… drawing conclusions by looking at files alone can be very misleading.
RandomHero’s post is spot on… nicely said by the way. I’ve previously posted that some parts effect power, some effect tuning, some effect both, and some effect neither. In the case of the Stock, All Drop in Filters, and All Cat/B maps there’s no rescaling because the MAF and its housing are identical so the tuning is, correspondingly, the same (for the same fuel octane). What can/might change is the engine's maximum airflow volume if some/all parts breathe better. While the Unichip can be set up to account for that change by changing map data at specific points (which you'd see in a data comparison), it can also be set up to do so by selecting airflow as the map’s load reference (which you won't see in a data comparison)… airflow determines the tuning solution. As an example, a stock engine might pump enough air to move the Unichip to load site (airflow) 12.4. If a Drop In Filter flows better, that same engine might pump more air and drive the map to load site 12.6… load site 12.6 has a different value than load site 12.4 so the tuning is “functionally” different but both data points are contained in the same map. From a “data” perspective, the maps appear identical. The engine that’s breathing better gets to parts of the map the stock vehicle never gets to. Some parts create big changes and others little to no changes. In the case of Drop in Filters and Catb's, the tuning requirements are essentially identical. Where you'll find changes are in different octane maps for those parts and in the corresponding Fuel/Timing In/Standard/Out maps. Those maps more than compensate for individual vehicle variations for any combination of those parts. One will be a very close fit for any production FT86 with those parts. Cheers |

Welcome back Jack!
I've been a bit quiet as well. Decided to take a few days off. Over the last few weeks I've spent a lot of time and money getting the car spring ready. All that's left is a header. Did overpipe/midpipe as well as some interior cabin changes as well as exterior ground effects and rain gutters. I have been running timingin/fuelout and have been quite pleased. My mods |

Btw, I will be switching tuners I believe. The problem I am going to have now is that the shop that is a certified unichip installer/tuner does not deal with imports (I've had them tune my fbody in the past).
I think I'm going to contact TiC and see if they can tune this bad boy to have a baseline for E85. I'm not sure if they will take on the challenge though (the other tuner was trying to improve the pump gas and was unsuccessful also). At this time, I do not have it installed but it will be reinstalled on friday. i'll try to contact TiC later this week to see what their thoughts are. |

I should be getting my FA20Club header in pretty soon here. After I install I plan to get the car dynoed. I'm hoping the AEM map is available by then.
My power upgrades will be: AEM Intake FA20Club EL Header (catted) Unichip - Hopefully with AEM map, I'm running the Injen map now I'm hoping for about a 15% increase in power over stock.
