That's really sad man. I hope you get yours back fast and you enjoyed the trip enough to bypass the fact that your car got damaged. Just an FYI, Cobb County Collision was awesome. Good luck with whoever you go with and before you accept it back from them make sure you inspect every inch of it for any sign of damage.

Oh trust me, I'm going over it with a fine toothed comb before I take it back.

I told them I bought it new for $299, and they told me they'd be sending me a check with that price soon. I told them hell no I paid for shipping too. So they asked me how much shipping was and I bullshitted 30-40 dollars thinking that's about how much it would be so they said we'll send you a check of $334. I sighed and said I guess that'll be fine.

About that other thread, it means a lot to me that you would say that because I was seriously offended. They reported me to the mods for "insulting" them, so I got an "infraction." If I get more my account will be banned. I never said any bad words or anything close to what they said to me like "d*ck" and "assholio." So thanks for the kind words. I am seriously considering a tune, but they're so expensive. They said that without the cable it'll be a lot cheaper so I'm thinking of finding someone in Atlanta that has a cable that I can borrow every time I need to change the map. I really want it, just a bit too expensive.
Just keep a thick skin on these forums and you'll be alright.

If I ever make it out to any of the meets, you're more than welcome to check out my car and see if you really want the ECU tune. I'll be getting my cable soon too.. Still need to do an update on mines but once I'm done you can borrow the cable if you need.

I didn't really see the cost of the ECU tune as being that bad actually.. it's pretty much the price of an exhaust, with better power gains IMO. When you think about it, you're basically paying someone to re-program your car, boost the HP & torque, and NOT blow up the engine at the same time lol.. which can be harder than it sounds.

Great to hear your insurance covered your exhaust too. Now you can use that money on a tune if you want!

Yeah I think I'm gonna put it in my tune fund haha. The tune from Visconti is almost $1400 for the e-85 one. That one seems like the best no doubt haha. I don't know if I could buy the other one HAPPILY without regretting not getting 30hp. Which one did you get and how do you feel about it.

I wouldn't mind meeting up with you sometime and driving my car and then riding in yours. If that would be cool with you.

Yea you should definitely drive my car to see how you like it first. In all honesty, I've been wanting to drive a NON-tuned frs/brz too.. just to compare for myself the difference.. been a while since I've driven a non-modified stock fr-s, I don't remember what stock feels like anymore lol.

I went with the full package tuning from FA20club.com.. license, cable, flex fuel kit, the works.. I'm kicking myself everyday for not doing it sooner. It's like driving a totally different car.

You don't need to spend the $1500 for Visconti's.. that's just my opinion. I'm not going to bad-mouth anyone online I've never met though.. all I have to say is Tony at FA20club was the coolest guy to talk to, work & do business with. I'm sure Visconti is the first name that comes up when people start talking about ECU tuning our cars, but there are other tuners out there who can do just as good a job. You'll see when you drive my car.

You can get FA20club's Stage 2 & E85 tune for $740.. without the cable of course. You'll just be paying for the license + tune. FA20club only charges $90 for an additional tune, so you're basically paying $650 for the E85 + $90 for the Stage 2 tune (93 octane).

And you WILL want a tune for regular gas too.. you can't always find a E85 station when you need one. That, plus filling up with E85 makes it a PITA to start the car when temps are cold (50 degrees or below).

Best of all, if you add another mod, like exhaust/intake.. he'll update your tune for FREE.. as long as your mod isn't anything major, like a turbo/supercharger.

Awesome bro, when could we meet up? I drive a Manual by the way, I don't know what you drive I just wanted to let you know haha. I wanna come see, test, and ask questions about your car man. Even thought its a BRZ, it shouldn't be any difference haha well yeah man, I'd be down to meet anytime. I live about a half hour north of Atlanta, but I wouldn't mind traveling a little before I go spend all my money on something I might regret forever haha. I have a ton of questions about all this 85 and 93 shit.

First look on the list of stations that have the E85 so you can see if its close enough to be worth the tune. I'm not close enough to benefit me so I decided against it.

These E85 tunes that you guys are talking about... what sort of fuel economy do they get?

I only like to drive manuals . And there shouldn't be any difference between the feel of a modded/tuned fr-s & brz.

I have a friend's wedding to go to this weekend, so this week is out for sure. I'll try to make it out next week sometime.. Those Caffeine & Octane meets aren't conducive to test driving are they? Haven't been to one, but just from the looks/pictures, it's mostly a show-but-no-go kinda thing? If so, we'll have to meet some other place.

If anyone else wanted to meet up for the test drive, you're more than welcome to come too.
Just no power-shifting or donut stunts while you're doing the test drive haha.

I topped off my tank with E85 four times on my way back from my FL trip. I didn't run the tank to near empty.. I wasn't sure when I'd find the next E85 station, so whenever I came across one, I just topped it off.

Using my Fuel Log app, here's the numbers I got (all fill-ups were top-offs.. after the pump stopped, I slowly filled up the tank TWICE until the pump shut off automatically). The majority of the time, I was cruising 75-80 mph. during that first stretch of 129 miles, I set the cruise on 70mph.. I noted the cost per gallon of each E85 fillup is too.

1st fill-up: 129 miles traveled, topped-off with 4.39 gallons = 29.36 mpg (car gauge avg. = 26.0 mpg), $3.56/gal
2nd fillup: 261 miles traveled, topped-off with 11.29 gallons = 23.1 mpg (car gauage avg. = 25.3 mpg), $3.30/gal
3rd fillup: 104 miles traveled, topped-off with 4.81 gallons = 21.64 mpg (car guage avg. = 23.0 mpg), $3.30/gal
4th fillup: 121 miles traveled, topped-off with 5.11 gallons = 23.68 mpg (car guage avg. = 24.2 mpg), $3.25/gal

I still think the first fillup is kind of an anomoly somehow.. It was 100% E85 in my tank at that point, but I must've been off on my miles or gallons somewhere, even though it was the ONLY stretch of traveling that I cruised at 70mph.. All the other stretches, I was going anywhere from 75-85 mph.. Anyway, that'll give you an idea of what MPG's you can expect on HWY driving after mods & tune. On the way to that 3rd fill-up, I was really driving fast too.. mostly 80-85 cruising with several WOT & speeding up to 90mph (when I was alone on the hwy of course). MPG's didn't drop as much as I thought it would either.

Hey Moses, I just saw your post from a week or two back, asking about the ECU cable. Haven't been in this forum section much the past few weeks, so I must've missed it.. figured I'd just answer you in this thread. You can use my Ecutek cable if you want after I'm done with it.

By the way.. it's only $90 more to get the E85 tune, after you've purchased FA20club's 1st tune (for 93 octane) at full price.. so it's actually worth trying out. You don't need any mods to get both tunes too. Both the 93 octane & E85 tune will work on a 100% stock car.. gives you a little better MPG's too along with a bump in performance. But like I said above, if you DO decide to add a few bolt-on mods later, FA20club will update your tune for free to maximize those mods too.

If you aren't familiar with Ecutek.. you can get both the 93 gas tune & E85 tunes stored on your car, and switch between the 2 tunes on the fly! So if you're stuck somewhere without E85, it's not a problem.. Such a cool feature and well worth the price for me.

@reeves I'm down man. Those caffeine and octane meets are just for looks haha maybe AFTER one since everyone is together we could do some drives. I can meet up soon if you can but its all up to you haha. I'm thinking of getting the e85 first then the other one. But I'm not too sure.

I gotta finish up some work, then head outta town for the wedding tomorrow.. won't be back til Monday or so.. then I'm anticipating I'll need to catchup on a few things at work too, so to be safe I'd say mid to late next week at the earliest.

Things can get pretty busy for me on the weekends too, which is why I don't make it out much for meets.. but I can set aside some time to meet next week if you're down. I'm always on trips out of town on weekends.. It does run up the miles on my car though.. which I don't mind at all since I enjoy driving it so much.
