header or catback?!

hey guys, im a college student and im trying to get something with my tax return money. I want to do exhaust for now and then do coilovers and wheels over the summer. Im looking at the borla UEL header, and the invidia q300 catback. I'm picking one or the other for now because of cost. any advice on which to get first?

I figure it doesnt really matter performance wise now, i just dont want my car sounding weird or crappy until i finish.. or should i just buy one part now and not install until i have everything purchased? There will probably be a 3 month gap between the purchases..

Just lookin for some advice, thanks

I decided to go with the exhaust and headers later this year. And it sounds awesome. I mean eventually you'll get both so I don't think it will that much but I actually am in no rush to get my headers yet because it sounds awesome

I'd do catback exhaust. Note that if you do headers, you may have to get a tune to take care of the ecu accepting no cat in the header. It could very well be fine w/o a tune though.

Get a real header, like Nameless. Save up.

Borla is crap compared to it.

going header or catback is up to you. as you mentioned, you're not really concerned too much on the performance for now

personally, i would do all the parts eventually if i was in your shoes. the reason why you might ask?

simply because you can get more performance . from the experience that i've had with cars, simply installing a complete system creates more flow. BUT, it also leans out the system on the car to give it more performance. air fuel ratios will lean out a specific percentage based on the selected exhaust components installed.

the way this works is simple. say you swapped just the header and gained 10 hp as an example. if you swapped just the exhaust and gained 5 hp, it doesn't mean that swapping both will increase 15 hp together. you'll probably have a gain of maybe 12-13 hp. a vehicle can only lean out so much before it no longer gets any more gain. it isn't just about free flow, but also leaning out the system.

this is based on what i've seen when building up my cars in the past. please correct me if i'm wrong.

Headers will be a bigger gain in power. Along with front pipe and over pipe. Then catback.
