You know, I had the same impression of him from that episode, but it was on purpose because of the old people skit. He wasn't complaining about comfort as much as build quality. My impression of the 2011 Mustang is the same as his of the newest GT 500, and I'm not that old.

Real-world mpg is 5.5mpg lower on the V6 Stang vs the FR-s. http://www.fueleconomy.gov

We own an 8yo Scion xA. It's bullet proof and better put together than any Ford I've test driven (Mustang, Focus ST, Fiesta). It's better put together than the equivalent year CTS-V too, and the last Mustang I test drove, a 2011.

You can keep denying reality, but it is still reality.

The Fusion, though, is a gorgeous car. Love the lines. The computer is crap, though.
And I've a friend with a 6 year old tC that's NOT bullet proof and has tons of rattles. The thing is an overall POS and worse than any American car I've ever owned or driven. You see how that works? Can play that game all day.

Again you reference Top Gear. Drive the car yourself and form your own opinions. Clarkson Hates Domestics. What about that is so hard to understand? He isn't going to ever provide accurate or non-biased feedback about anything American.

The mustang has advanced much more since they originally brought out the coyote motor in 2011. So has the GT500.

But you know what, I'm reaching that point again where I'm running out of the will to continue arguing. So we'll just agree to disagree.

No, I don't. My car is a 2014. They began production of that model year early in anticipation of an early end to the run to retool for the 2015 redesign.

I hope you bought a manual, that auto on that car...reminds me of a 99 Toyata Avalon auto.

Nice car, hope you have fun with it.

The little trim (refresh) Ford did for this Mustang is the one I'd take.

And I am really surprised to hear you got a Ford and not a Camaro or Charger. Thought you were a die hard GM guy?

I am. But for 40k, I'll take the car that I can see out of. I hated the visibility out of the Camaro and you can't get a Charger in stick. Challengers are boats with big motors. The Mustang, in spite of all the things working against it, handles and feels best out of all three.

But, but, OHC... WTH???

Didn't you and ZDan write pages of posts to kick the logic of the OHV into my thick, stubborn skull? And now this? I don't know what to believe in anymore...

J/k, nice car.

J/k, nice car.
5.0 is a great motor. It would never fit under the hood of a low-slung sports car like a Corvette, though. Or an RX-7! For bigger cars with higher hoodlines, engine size/bulk is not much of an issue.
It's unfortunate that the only reasonably small and semi-lightweight car they put the LS into is the Corvette. Although by today's standards, a 4th-gen Camaro/Firebird is small and light!
I love that they are selling a fair number of 5th-gen Camaros, though. The more donor cars out there, the better!

Of the current crop of domestic V8 2+2s, The Mustang is the way to go for sure. Cool car!

The car is a GT Premium (leather, Track Apps) in stick with the Track Package (Brembos, stiffer suspension, Torsen, 3.73s, Boss radiator, Boss oil cooler), Recaros, and rear camera.

Thanks.

Logic of, not superiority. Between the Coyote 5.0 and the LS3, I just look at it as 2 different ways to skin a cat. I'm just sick of people criticizing/dismissing OHV motors for being ancient when they perform comparably with some of the best offerings today.

Honestly, the Camaro was my first choice based on powerplant and transmission. I still wish this car was a cam swap away from 480whp. That having been said, the Mustang didn't win on powerplant (daily driver, comparable power, keeping the warranty intact as long as possible) but visibility, aesthetics, handling, and feel.

The Challenger was never a contender.

This. A C6 Z07 or ZR1 or a C7 is still on the short list.

Gratz. I respect the new Mustang for what it is. And it sounds like a good choice for you.

Grats! It looks great.

I have to ask the question though.. Think you're gonna have buyer's remorse when the '15 hits?
