Question Irrational Exuberance ??

Forgive me but:

This car was designed to be one of the best handling road cars going right now. Why have none of the reviews come out and said it is among the best? They say it's great, or, a knockout, but no one says, it handles like the Cayman or it's better than a Miata or Rx-8 or S2000 etc etc. Perhaps the test drives were to short but a few laps should be all a professional car journalist needs. Best handling car in its class?, most likely, one of the best handling (non-exotic) cars on the road, not so sure.

If it handles like a Cayman... well... ... what beats a Cayman? o_O;

Hell I think you can buy at least 2.5 FRS/BRZ/GT86's for a Cayman...

Poor man's Cayman? Hardtop Miata? Cheaper S2000?

I think all of those names might be appropriate. Either way, its going to be the car of the decade.

Journalists don't like saying something is the best unless it's a tangible figure like power or torque ratings. Handling is a very subjective topic just like aesthetics. Pretty much the only reviewers I've seen to openly say "this is the best car you can get for $x" is Top Gear.

To comment on my own post:

The car hasn't been officially unveiled, perhaps that plays into it. The journalists were driving a ''prototype'' or ''pre-production'' and maybe didn't want to stick their necks out to far to soon. I cant wait for the mags to have competitive comparisons especially if they stick real tires on it to replace those eco B.S. ones.

well, Kostamojen didnīt say anything about a price for the car of the decade...

estimated prices in germany:
GT86 32k and Alfa 4C 45k....
1220 kg vs 850 to 900 kg
200 na-hp vs 235-250 turbo-hp

which car would you choose?
