I've been bitten

Did an autox school on Saturday and then my first event on Sunday. It was incredible. Not just being able to push my car, but doing ride-alongs in some of the purpose-built autox cars. My first time was 70 seconds and change and I ended up with a best of 59.735 and won the rookie STX class (only four people). This is definitely my new favorite thing.

I just had mine today as well. First dry run was 65.858 the last dry was 61.511. It rained like hell after that and I got two more runs in. First soaking wet was 68.917. Same conditions I picked up 5.5 seconds for a 63.243. I know for a fact I can pick up another 3-4 seconds with practice.

I'm learning the limits of the car and really fell in love with it this weekend. She's a blast in dry and monsoon conditions

Absolutely. My only two goals were to improve 4 seconds on my first run and to beat the other FR-S driver. I succeeded in both

Just wait til you looking at improving your runs by 1/10ths.... At the Dixie Match tour... 1st-16th was only separated by 2.6 secs... thats when it gets fun(ner)..

Keep it up.. Hope to see you at a national event sometime..

Welcome to the most fun you will ever. When I started I used to improve by seconds, now it's tenths and hundreths. I Am very active with multiple clubs in my area and love it.

You will never want to stop!

It does. I have fun driving on roads but the last thing I'd ever want to do is hurt myself or someone else, so I don't push it. This gives me an outlet, and especially around the tight turns, this thing is FUN.

Thanks, it was great and everyone was very nice and willing to give a rookie a ride along. Rode in some FAST cars, though the school scared off some people because one of the guys in a Miata lost it heading into a slalom (admittedly a waaaaay too fast section for rookies) and spun the nose of his car into a light pole. He was fine, but the car, not so much.

Autocross is incredible fun. I started with a 1979 Chevy Malibu with a built 350 and she handled like a dump truck but I WAS HOOKED. Next car a miata and now the FRS. Once your hooked there is no going back.:happy0180:
