Sample Data Stock FR-S
I just wanted to share my amateur log. This is my first time writing about this. Pardon if it is irrelevant or serves no purpose. I just wanted to share.
I know that all FR-S are different to a certain degree, but they all share the same baseline mapping configuration. I have taken some sample data logging in stock configuration. Here is part of the study. Please note that not everything will match in every run. I have compiled most of this information out of a handful of data recordings. This points were taken during a time period of 1 month. Ambient temperatures where between 2*F and 9*F of difference. Do not take this data to heart, it is just an example. I am not responsible for how this information might be used. NOTES: Data Acquisition Tool used: Torque PRO At a steady idle the A/F ratio stays at around 14.6-14.5-14.7 Intake Temperature starts dropping 2*F immediately. Ambient Temp: 77*F. Continous temperature drop down to 93.2*F At idle you have a 30% Engine Load. The average CFM is 30. The app shows that VE of 100% can and does exceed after 5,771 RPMS. At this RPM range you are at 11.7-12.2 AFR. The theorical Naturally Aspirated engine VE is 137%. [LATEST DATA WILL BE ON THE TOP] 04-09-13 RAW DATA - Stock Configuration [Long Idle and Steady ~2k RPM] 03-26-13 RAW DATA - Fixed Auto Profile in Torque Pro Sample Graphs: All Data points prior to 3-26-13 <<<Invalid due to miscalculations Sample Data: Again this is just samples of data and some notes that I have gathered. Thank you guys. Last edited by soros151; 04-09-2013 at 08:42 PM. |

How were you able to pull up those sample data using torque pro?

You do know that VSC sport doesn't change the way the engine runs? Thanks for those figures though. I take it CFM is the MAF reading?

I only told Torque what I wanted to record and then I had it automatically export the info from my phone to my email. Then I just read it,organized it, and broke it down. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2 |

Can torque pro export data to .csv or Excel format? I'd like to see some of your raw data.
Also, for comparison purposes most people use the metric unit for airflow... grams/second . |

Looks like Torque exports data in a somewhat useless format... if I'm interpreting correctly, it's lining everything up to a 1 second sample rate. There isn't a nice neat timestamp or elapsed time column though. The vehicle speed is in meters/second (mostly useless) and direct injeciton fuel pressure is in psi (practically useless for GDI & diesel pressure).
After a little processsing though, I got some charts going for the Nov_15 file at what looks to be 5:42 PM... |

FYI....CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute...not Cubic Feet per Meter...
It's a measurement of Volume over Time...kinda impossible to measure Volume over Volume.

1) change the parameter list you are recording. Add vehicle speed for one, and if possible see if you can take out some parameters and improve your logging speed. A 1 second sample rate is way too slow for performance driving. If it's possible, record only data from the ECU on some runs. 2) switch to metric units. Certain types of parameters are harder to use with metric, and certain things are easier. I find metric more usable overall though. 3) If there's any way to change the way the timestamp records, try to have an elapsed time column 4) Label your data files with some kind of description after you export them |

If these parameters are true(and I'm not doubting you, just maybe the data), then having a VE over 100% on a stock car should really lay to rest the notion that the stock air intake is not adequate. I personally find it hard to believe a VE of 128% on a N/A motor, especially a mass produced factory stock motor, with stock intake and stock exhaust, and all the compromises that come with them. 963 CFM is more in line with a large displacement V8 motor. These motors are only 121 cubic inches.
