They key is as long as you don't smell clutch burning then it is a normal function of the metals. If you hear the honking and then smell metal burning, something is up. You can clean up the honk with shift patterns and it might just be the properties of the metals and mechanisms.

Another way to make this happen and more loudly, is to rev it up to like 5 to 6k and then do the same thing. This can be caused by people unknowingly applying some gas while they let the clutch out, revving it up and spinning the plates together. Or if you rev match down shift and over shoot the RPM. Tons of people are having this issue, and I experienced it once while agressively taking some curves I had some gas bleed over into my down shift and it honked at me. I fixed my issue by cleaning up my shifts a little bit, it was easy to have some gas bleed over when I wasn't paying close attention. I would analyze the next time it happens to you in a normal driving situation and try and replicate your foot pattern and see if it is because of shifting habits. If it has nothing to do with the way you are shifting and nothing to do with slight gas bleed over I would get it checked out.

Tried the higher rev range and nothing. i have tried shifting every single way possible and havent gotten it to go away! multiple different drivers and service techs couldnt get the car to not produce the noise over and over. so like you said its pretty much nothing with shifting or gas bleed (since it has been tried with the gas completely off and clutch engaged along with various other non-gas pedal involving situations, so thats why i am getting it checked out. Its literally impossible and i have tried at least 22 documented and controlled clutch engagements (yes documented...after all being in medicine is some what being a scientist) and it still does it... Also it got worse when we had one warm day then a cold one...who knows maybe there was mild warping in the plates...i will soon have it looked it!

Yeah your situation is different, maybe your car is more apt to have this resonance issue. I would agree the noise is annoying and get it fixed, make them replace everything involved with shifting Goodluck man and keep me posted. BTW I applaud that you have done measured and documented things to eliminate variables, as an engineer I salute you.

I like that spoiler cant wait for it to ship in SWP post pics when you get it. Is it 3M taped on?

It Subaru had some crazy 7 yr, 100k warranty I would probably not give that up.. but after i've used two of the three years.. it's not such a big deal.
I hope they come out with a TRD supercharger like for the TCs and what not.

Going off the enjoying the car part. I don't know your previous driving experience but here is my tip to really enjoying this car. Go to a parking lot and hold down the traction control button and get everything off and go play around and feel the limits. From that point on anytime the roads are dry, turn that thing off. Having even sport mode on or anythihng else on a nice dry day is like giving an olympic sprinter a 250lb weight to carry while he runs. Now I mention about driving experience because you can get into some problems with everything off but nothing will put a smile on your face like a long sideways drift with nothing but you keeping it under control. The VSC sport mode is good for wet days and some fun, but this car really starts to shine and show its massive capabilities when you can ride the slide and VSC mode really only lets you do like 20% of what its capable of.

Weather forecast shows the weather getting warmer next week. At this rate, it should be very nice when my BRZ arrives.

Tires are meant to be burned!! lol Yeah I am sure I will get less then normal life spans but it is totally worth it to me. Sliding this car for like 15 ft sideways and at like 25 mph is amazing! Very few cars can do it, got to love it. If we all wear our tires down the same we can go in on a group buy! lol

What's everybody doing today?

I'm planning a long day of basketball and BRZ..
Doing an oil change this morning and then I think I'm going to start working on side skirts. I'll be taking long breaks throughout to watch some hoops.

I was thinking next week thursday or early the week after. If last week was any indication, weekends are not a good time to go due to how busy it will be.

I agree, no weekends. I walked in thursday at around 1 and it was empty. Only a couple guys in my way on the track. It was my first time there. I only ran once and my 15th lap was a 24.830(best). I was getting better every lap. I would be down for a weekday
