Wonder if pulling the ABS fuse will turn off all aids thus negating the need to do the pedal dance and pull the fuse.

After a time, you might want to try Sport Mode, but I would advise having an instructor assess your performance first before trying that, just to be on the safe side.

In the end reducing/removing the "aids" is the only way you're going to learn, I'd think.

High speed driving is a harsh "mistress." There are no do-overs, and sometimes the consequences of an error can be severe, fatal even.

Find a slow section of track, one accompanied by a large, safe run-off area where an errant driver is unlikely to damage the car or himself. Confine your initial work with Sport Mode to that corner until you "master" it.

This is NOT "school" where you get falsely praised for doing crap work.

Remember, Mother Nature and The Laws of Physics will literally KILL you, ruthlessly, mercilessly, and without a second thought.

But then, that's what makes it interesting, isn't it?

Be careful out there and take chances only with YOUR life, not someone else's.

Right?!
Thank you for replying and giving me a word of advice!
what I learned:
LISTEN to the instructor. Learn the line and smoothness hitting corners first before speed.
Experience the event with how the car as it is=nannies on;
Learn the track and the environment on how everything flows;
As experience builds up switch off a nanny as i learn and get to control the if this certain nanny is off;
Enjoy and learn from the event;
More seat experience..
(my bad talking to myself. just want to make a list of pointers)

again Sir.

My pleasure. Thank you for the respectful and thoughtful response. I don't see much of that around here.

May I answer any other questions for you?

My point, exactly; isn't the entire Nanny system built around the ABS system?

If we defeat that, haven't we cut the head off the damned snake?

Learning the proper line and etiquette is nice and all, but you're in for a shock when you turn all the aids off, if you start with them on.

If a student is truly interested in learning, rather than "setting a fast time", I always start them with everything off. On the other hand, if they're just there to set the best time they can that day, I'll just have them leave it on.

Learning to drive fast is a skill you learn over a period of time, not in one day or a weekend.

If you start with the aids off, expect to spin, get your car dirty, and of course, accept that there is risk in this activity.

Amen.

The No Fear crowd is accustomed to instant gratification, and "No one gets less than a B in this class."

The single biggest cause of death in the 16-24 year-old "cohort" ... is automobile accidents, often the result of getting into a scrap with The Laws of Physics.

Wow...Why hadn't I seen this.. today the car went into 'ICE' mode for my co-driver. and resulted in a DNF for one of his runs. Very interesting. Can Someone explain "ICE" Mode and does this procedure disable it??

Are people Only getting ice mode with lighter wheels, or with the heavy stock wheels also?

I had ice mode during most of my runs last season in RTR, Eric. Totally ruined trail braking for me. Had to adjust my braking zones just for this.

Simmons and Scooby South:
Are you guys doing the pedal dance settings before you autocross and still getting this Ice Mode? I believe that is the discussion. I saw this happen with a Corvette last year, the guy had raced it several years and never had the problem before, and didn't after. It sounds like the FR-S may be more prone to this problem. How about guys like Robispec, Evasive, Griffon, are they changing out their control systems to avoid this? So if you do regular left foot braking it is not such a problem? My first event is still over a month off, I think I might need to find a safe place to test this out.

The reach of ice pedal seems to stretch accross many manufacturers. A lot of Porsche guys are having the issue. Some have found that adding rear bias with pads appears to have helped. One of our locals with a big checkbook is working through the issue on his race car, we'll see what the verdict is on that.

Highlighted for emphasis.

I know Robi's car doesn't have any brake issues with the pedal dance.

I tried doing the pedal dance last week, but I couldn't get it to work and ran out of time.
I will try it again tomorrow.
