4-I've got 3 years rom Vortech with unlimited mile warranty, ymmv.

5-not dealing with oil, exhaust can mean alot to the home installer, it can also translate to fewer things for me to keep an eye on while on the track, example, my car will not get any guages, my afr will be stable, all I want to watch is my oil temp, which doesnt get used to cool any FI bearings and probably will run cooler as a result.
I agree, I do not want another TC vs SC thread. Both options have their place and have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Bullets 4 and 5 are valid points.

I do have a few comments

1-what are you talking about oil changes every 7500 miles?huh???SC does not need its fluid changes 7500 where are you getting this?

You should learn about the parts you put on your car, Gem. Vortech V3's require an oil change after the first 2500 miles and then every 7500 miles thereafter. They use about 4oz of special synthetic lubricant. Additionally, you should monitor the oil level using the dipstick installed in the SC at least every 2500 miles. Your 3 year uber warranty is voided if you never change the oil.

2-I've never had a turbo last 230K miles, you know?I dunno what conditions you drive in but certainly sounds different than mine

I'm a very spirited driver, and am impeccable with maintenance. The stock turbo was taken off around 188k, with very little shaft play.

3-you are on the wrong thread since you want to buy a AVO turbo, how many times you gonna tell us that you think AVO is better? We hear you.
Loud. and. Clear.

Gem, don't start. Just because I have valid points about the AVO kit doesn't mean I will buy one.

4-I've got 3 years rom Vortech with unlimited mile warranty, ymmv.

And?

5-not dealing with oil, exhaust can mean alot to the home installer, it can also translate to fewer things for me to keep an eye on while on the track, example, my car will not get any guages, my afr will be stable, all I want to watch is my oil temp, which doesnt get used to cool any FI bearings and probably will run cooler as a result.

This tells me exactly why you've never seen a turbo last long. If all your monitoring on a boosted car (that was originally manufactured as NA) is oil temp, then good luck to you man. LOL Also, I would only ever run a watercooled turbo (I believe a majority of modern ones are WC'ed). The coolant system and lubrication systems in a car both have purposes. I would never use my lubrication system to cool a turbo.
See above.

Gem/2forme,

You guys need to come to New York so I can take you out for some drinks. I think we'll have a much better time doing that than rehashing this debate!

Adeets/Industrial, what the hell, you guys can come along too. Just don't go full electrical geek on us.

Make it so.

And I'm all for that.

As for my background I'm a true ET (everything tech) if it has electrons flowing and it's not breathing, I can fix it. I also program and R&D on robotics (current job.) my navy back ground is 10 years of communications, Radar, circuit board repair and programing. Oh and all the shit sailors buy and then break while out to sea.
Well I'll give you that a well done solder joint is about as good an electrical connection as you can get. It's just not practical to expect most people to know how to do this. Either way, this kit seems to be screaming for a high quality plug and play extention harness.

Sounds like you had a pretty cool job in the navy. I bet you were one of the people to know out at sea. I worked as a line electrician primarily on old ass air force jets. Started with F-111s and then moved on to KC-135s. I worked line item repair, some avionics, some aerospace ground equipment, lots of environmental control systems but mostly chasing electrons on old school air force jets. We had no magic boxes to tell us anything, just wiring diagrams and PSM-37s. Really teaches you how to troubleshoot and learn to fix just about anything. Sorry for any disrespect eariler, it's just hard to know who you are dealing with here. :happy0180:

is there an advantage to the V-3 H67B vs. the V-3 SCI that is sold in most of the kits?
