Short commute and college, lol.
Back in high school when I got my license, I would drive my moms Accord around. I was the only one of her kids that she actually trusted with the car, so I was able to take it whenever I needed to. I think I put 8k miles on it in about 8 months, in addition to her mileage, driving all over Long Island and NYC. Fun times.

I beat the shit out of that thing too.

Damn, you guys make me feel like I don't drive my car at all. Almost 9 months of ownership and I have somewhere around 8500 miles.

Paying
You can get special insurance for your car and end up paying like 30 bucks a month for full coverage

Wow you are almost at the mileage on my car.... from 2003. (Note: I am putting solid miles on it now. It was the previous owner who kept it locked away in the garage!)

to those putting a ton of miles on your cars. YAY daily drivers!

I thought about doing seasonal coverage, but the weather here is crazy. It could snow one day and be 70* the next, so I like to drive her during those times whenever I can. It keeps me sane

I'm just a little above that now monthly if I break it down to each car. I'm paying $190 (rounded) a month for full coverage on 3 cars, 1 bike and a fullsize truck (older).

Yeah, my parents weren't all about letting me drive and are super anal about mileage. In college there was just no reason to leave campus unless getting food or booze, so the WRX often sat for days at a time. Some great driving roads out there by my college though... great twisties and some long straightaways you could push 130mph.
