I have some powder graphite lubricant that I use on my door locks and claws and latches and other parts that rub like hinges and trunk and good hinges.. Also my tube has a needle aplicator and I hold the button in and spray some in there when I do my monthly mantience.. It's over kill, but I got this huge tube back when I worked at a shop for this very reason.. A sticky fuel door and it fixed it right up.. It's powder so it doesn't gum up as much as the greases do.. It can be a bit messy, but it's amazing stuff.. Use it in my older outdoor locks when I had a storage and it made them butter smooth when at one time it felt as the key would snap instead of turn...

I had this happen once. I think I tried 2 or 3 times and it didn't open. Then I pushed the lid in (thinking maybe it didn't latch completely), and that did the trick. Next time I pulled the lever it opened.

dealer shrugged and said keep at it until it breaks for good, then bring it in. Ive gotten maybe 1 or 2 out of 5 that open on the first pull, the rest is all guess and check.
