Texas residents can sign this petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/txplate/petition.html

I urge everyone to sign a petition for states who still require the display of front license plates. In addition, send an email or letter to your local representative.

Studies have shown the negative effects to a cars aerodynamics and cooling with a front license plate. The real reason they require them is because it's the easiest flat surface to get a radar reading from. There is no legitimate reason to require one. If our logic is that if someone commits a crime it's easier to see a license plate if they have two, then we should all have to wear numbers to be displayed on our clothing at all times.

Been riding around with no front plate for going on 6 years - it's a secondary offence I believe so they can't give you a ticket for just no front plate, but they can and will tack it on for other things (have gotten a parking ticket in downtown Columbus that they tacked the no-plate onto) - I look at it as an extra fine to be paid honestly, I've never had a cop harass me for just not having the front plate. YMMV.

I had the Tow Hook Mount but decided I preferred a center mount. Didn't want to drill obnoxious holes into the bumper, so I found this design which just requires two tiny screws drilled on the bottom side of the bumper that isn't visible. You can adjust it in many different ways. The gallery shows my BRZ and how I have it mounted. With a simple adjustment, you could slide it further down but I didn't want to block the airflow to the radiator.

Alot of Ohio folks chiming in here, love hearing that we have plate-obsessed cops

1) I have the tow hook mount, I already have an A) Red B) Sports car C) With what may or may not be questionable tint. Don't need to give the cops a fourth reason to pull me over.

2) Was pulled over in my previous car for not having a front plate. Got off with a warning when I told him the bracket I had in the back was rusted out and I had ordered a replacement. It was rusted, But I had no intent of ordering another. It may or may not have helped that the cop was in his late 50s/early 60s and my dog was in the car and growling at him.

3) Given the choice between no front plate and keeping it on the dash, I will pick no plate every time. Would rather run the risk of getting pulled over than have a piece of thin galvanized steel possibly flying around the cabin in the event of an accident.

I agree with the dislike of a side-mount; of the various options out there your mount seems pretty sweet. I just need to decide if I'd rather have a clean front-end and a constant invitation to get pulled over or an ugly-looking front plate. I'm leaning towards the plate. (Clean and fast car, heavier tint, leadfoot tendencies, louder pipes, college town w/ some understandably bitter police--Yeah. I'll mount the plate.)

My car is going in this weekend to have the rear diffuser installed and a 1000 mile oil change, I asked them to install the front plate holder that came with the car and they said no problem. - I was just thinking that I would hate to be out some weekend and toss back a couple of beers with dinner and happen to get pulled over to discuss the lack of a front plate with a peace officer and have it turn into a DUI or something.

I have already gotten a front plate and a tint ticket in the BRZ. Shit that reminds me, I need to get those signed off.

I just said screw it and drilled the holes and mounted it the regular way. It doesn't look that bad and actually the holes have nice rubber plug things that don't look bad with the plate off either.

I'm tired of front plate tickets though. This was number 5 (from all my cars).
