Now, there is a 10 dollar fee to enter Lake Mead and another 10 to enter Valley of Fire.

What do you think? Yay? Nay? Maybe one of em, but not both? Or do you guys have different area?
Looks like it would be great cruise and the cost of $20 seems reasonable to reach those areas. Now if only I can find the means to make it out there...hmm...

Good point. However, I think it's more important to have a sane person leading the procession so people behind don't have to break their butts trying to keep up.

Yay for one. Either one would be fine. I would go with the majority vote as to which one.

I think $20 is reasonable for most people. This looks like a very nice cruise. I'm just wanting to know the hotel situation and where the majority of people plan on staying.

I know entering from the valley of fire side covers entrance fees around the lake. Could be the same the opposite way?

What's all this talk about hotel rooms? Isn't everyone just sleeping in their car? Plenty of room with the back seat down, right? All Top Gear style...

Still trying to decide about the drive. Wanna be there!

I'm going to head out on the route here in a few days.. Possible Monday, just to see how the roads are and I'll check on the fees.. By map it looks like a fun route.. I do know that on the mead side of the route, that the gate isn't always maned but I'll ask if one ticket covers both stretches

I completely agree on some of the group trips I have been on once you get past about 10 cars it becomes a drag race to catch the group at each light. a good lead driver would keep it nice and slow until we are past all the lights and stop signs in Vegas so it doesn't turn into a bunch of little groups racing to catch up.

That's the only problem I see at the start point.. I personally think we should make a start point out a ways or at least right off the highway.. They had a end of winter cruise here and it was horrible.. Lots of cars, but to leave the park you had to make a left across a busy street and only a car or two could make it at one time..

LOL. I used to do a lot of camping and back packing but now I consider staying at the Mariott is roughing it.

It would sure be neat if you could make it.
