Something to consider, perhaps.
I'll second that. I've found here atleast, that leasing is often cheaper new buying used.

hmm....Rumors of a new Honda Roadster keeps coming up this morning on the usual places. Hard top too...not words on US release but it may be in a level to compete with the 86, not to mention it's Mid engine an affordable Boxster type....

Boxster? Save up for a Boxster S, that's only ~$2-5K more depending on mileage and year. Engines like to blow; look up IMS failure. You'll want one that's had the IMS replaced with an aftermarket unit.

Research "intermediate shaft failure" (IMS) on these Porsche engines.

It's either a $3k-$4k upfront fix BEFORE failure, or an expensive crap shoot possibly costing you $12k+ for a new engine.

There are other issues, too, but this is the one that prompts me to say, "No, thanks" on this generation of Boxster or Cayman.

The reason I don't have a used Cayman is because I can't afford to maintain it or fix it if something happens.

Ever heard the term "Porsche tax" at all? Being mid-engine as well, all maintenance is probably going to be a bitch, unless you've possibly owned an MR2 in the past.

I'd see what you can do as far as a newer one, I'm betting the new Boxster/Cayman have brought used prices down.

We can get a 2006-2008 Cayman S for the same price as a BRZ.

And I skipped a 2007 Cayman S for $29K because it had ~60K miles. That's a LOT of miles and some expensive maintenance...with no warranty.
