Will that more robust or the reliability will be better?
I know that it might be too expensive for the tip.
Thanks.
You get what you pay for. Whats another $100 or so when you just bought a brand new car? Guess you can always keep the crap ones they came with.

Money? So what...

Thanks for posting the Perrin clamp-on tip info. I decided when I bought the FR-S that would keep the stock exhaust. Long story but I've had drivability issues with aftermarket set-ups on Mustangs in the past as well as installation issues with muffler techs who couldn't weld for shit, losing $$$ (and some of my sanity) in the process.

But I also don't like the looks of the cheap Subaru 'Legacy' tips on the FR-S stock exhaust. I did unbolt them, polished and reinstalled them so they do look better. But they still 'hide' under the rear valence and just don't do anything for the look from behind.

So last night I ordered some DC Sports tips from Amazon because they were cheap. Figured 'what the hell, for $40+ how could I lose'. But I still had a feeling I wasn't going to be happy. I looked at some similar ones at Autozone and the bolts were already rusting on the shelf.

Then I saw the posts here for the Perrin clamp-on tips, made specifically for our cars. I canceled my Amazon order (just in time) and ordered the Perrins. Expensive, yes. But as was posted earlier I just paid $25K for a new car so what's an extra $100 or so to have what I want? I know I'm going to be happy with these and I can keep my stock exhaust. Life is too short to go without what I want, and I'm sure the quality (and 5 year guarantee) will justify the price.

Compared to JDM these are a bargain!

Sucks the black ones are cheap shit. I went through 6 pages, planning full well on ordering them, then a few posts later ...

Never even considered flat black, but now that I see them, I gotta have 'em. I wonder if there are any alternatives to the DC ones in that color?

If anyone wants a pair on the cheap, I am selling mine. I used them for a few months. Only rust on the bolts(not all either, just a few)

The nuts and mounting brackets on my black tips started to show rust so I removed the tips and sprayed the nuts and brackets with heat resistant rustoleoum about 3 weeks ago. The surface rust has returned so sounds like this may be a chronic problem. Anyone have success with keeping the rust away?

Couldn't the bolts just be replaced?

has anyone found a reasonable subsitution? Another black tip? I was also planning on getting the ex1011b but after hearing about the rusting issue I am backing out.

Perrin Tips Installed

Received and installed the Perrin tips today. One thing for sure, these are a real work of art. Even the packaging was top-shelf. Easy install and they fit great. Look a lot better than stock IMO and I'm a happy camper now. And I can see why Perrin can warrantee these for five years, they'll likely last longer than the car.

Talking Rusted Bolts on tips

When I looked into Pep boys store, there was an option to change the bolts either stainless steel or better quality. I am still in the middle decide whether I would spend money on these. Check out Muffle Mall on line and they have chrome plated bolts but not sure they last. The guy said they are industry standard. My concern is to have quality bolts that last.

when finding a tip, we just need one with a 2.25" inlet (where it connects to the exhaust) and hte outlet is the diameter of the tip we see?

if so, i'm gonna start looking for 2004-2006 Acura TSX tips. I always thought they looked super good and they're 2.25".
