I am trying to slim down myself. I naturally have a bulky build so muscle is not what I am looking for. About a year and a half ago I peaked at 220 and was disgusted with myself so I decided I had to do something.
The biggest problem I have had is consistency, I don't weight train or anything I just run. So I had a habit of stopping once the weather got a little sour which of course led to the weight coming back. Last summer I got down to 186, maybe a bit less, and felt like I was well on my way. Went on vacation, only ran 3 or 4 times in 2 weeks and totally stopped once school and winter came around. I came all the way back to 208. Started running at the indoor track at school now and I have developed some consistency again. I run 3 times a week and play basketball or indoor soccer on the in between days resting on Sundays. I am at about 197 right now and if I get some kind of diet going I know better things will come. Good luck guys and wish me luck too.

^ I actually prefer working out alone. A lot of the time you when I have friends with me, they are too worried about talking to everyone else, or **** around and it takes forever. I'm there to work out, not chit chat lol. I mean I talk to people but it doesn't interfere with what i'm trying to do.
R_E_L - Seeing as running is obviously something you love to do, it seems like the only thing you need to really worry about is getting your diet in check. Be smart about it, eat clean and give yourself a cheat meal every week to keep your sanity. It really helps when you have something to look forward to at the end of the week. For myself its protein/healthy fats in every meal. I get one meal with a little bit of carbs, but I just run better without them which is why its mostly protein/fat.. Drink lots of water, eat your veggies, and you will be back on your way. I notice a lot that people will start a diet, and expect weight loss right away, and start changing things up like crazy. I always try telling people who ask to keep on it for like two weeks or so, even if you don't lose weight or go up a little. Its also not a race, slow and steady! |

Funny I get a lot of carbs up until around 230pm and then cut them out. As you said, stick with your new eating habits. It takes a while. |

Thanks! How do you like having carbs in the am? That would put me right to sleep, haha. I eat them post workout, and my second to last meal.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll look into it. I've already done a quick google search and it seems Orange Triad is much more popular than Mega Men. As far as price goes, the vitapaks are like $50 for a 1 month supply, so we'll see. I tried to see how much Orange Triad was on GNC because I like to shop their site since they always have some deal or sale going, but it's blocked here at work. The category it was assigned as a reason for being blocked? Illegal Drugs. Whoops.

I'd suggest checking out bodybuilding.com, nutraplanet, and sports nutrition online. They seem to always have the cheaper prices. I've never been on GNC's site but if its anything like there store, they are overpriced.

GNC is way overpriced, even their discount price is overpriced. Also, careful with supplements, they are only suppose to be use to supplement what you eat. Eating healthy is the first goal. A lot of sites have professionals swearing by supplements and it may seem promising especially if they say "in a study... it worked". But guess who sponsors those studies? The companies that make the supplement. Just an FYI for anyone who plans on going on supplements hoping for amazing results. Give your body a try before giving supplements a try.

In my view I want to stay away from any supplement. I want to train my body to do most of the work. I want all my training to pay off and last till the end without any help from weight gainers, energy boost, or any enhancers. I prefer to keep things natural and its been working for me fine so far. If I ever start to use supplements then it will be the day I know my body has finally met its limit and if I want to go further I'll use certain supplements to push me over the plateau.

I also have a bit of caffeine before a workout (supplement?) whether it be some green tea or a little black coffee. |

If I really need a protein shake for recovery, which I rarely do, I wouldn't decline to do so. I'd like to keep things natural so having coffee or green tea for the caffeine is okay in my book. I don't need anything that will give me the shakes or go bonkers in the gym. I can fuel my own adrenaline mentally.
