I paid perfect attention to you stating an opinion, however the fact you've not tried it (and I assume you are not a design engineer at Subaru), makes me shelve your opinion in the opinions box. But like I said, thanks for your input!

We are considering the 2014 Forester for my wife.

Yes, it has the FA20 open deck block. It does not have Toyota's D4S system, but rather a Subaru direct injection system.

The internals will most certainly be different in some ways. The tune is for an AWD CUV so probably not ideal behaviour for a RWD light sports car.

The piping will definitely be different since the intercooler sits on top of the engine still but without the hood scoop.

Even if it did work, the OEM parts would probably cost 3X the cost of a good aftermarket unit, with both voiding the powertrain warranty.

Almost exactly what I was trying to say.

Another turbo thread?

unless we're talking an actual turbo kit, turbo build or Subaru themselves actually say they're adding a turbo (Which I highly doubt) can we please stop with these random turbo threads?

Why, what harm is it you?

If nothing else it shows that Subaru is confident in the FA20 with FI, changed internals or otherwise.

i think you're missing my point here.

There's a new turbo thread almost on a weekly basis. It's always the same thing.

"Subaru has developed a new turbo engine. Could it be for a turbo BRZ?"

"Subaru has a turbo FA engine. BRZ getting a turbo confirmed"

et cetera et cetera.

If people could just use the search function and find the turbo rumor threads then we'd have a lot less clutter.

my only issue with them is that it's getting annoying when you're trying find a particular discussion and you find 20 identical threads and have to sort through each one to find where you last posted, which one had a particular article, or which one had an interesting tidbit.

at this point it all just clutter.

Unfortunately, we all have to get used to it because fighting the crusade it futile. Who wants to singled out as the forum cop, anyways? We have mods for that.

All I meant was that moderators usually try to curtail threads that add clutter or leave members feeling unwelcome, an updated faq with common thread topics such as "will it tarbo" and "my gears make noises" is linked and the thread promptly locked.

Every community is different (and I've never been on a car forum, much less a tuner crowd, more used to the video game populace) and there's nothing poisonous going on so cheers!
