Off topic, but to those who had purchased their ecutek tune via overseas vendors, how many times did you have to send datalogs till you were satisfied with the final tune?
Reason i'm asking is that, the cable isn't cheap, and if you only need to use to 2-3 times (initial base tune upload, then datalogging, then upload final tune) then it seems like a waste? Any of you with cables thought of 'loaning' them out to others for a small fee or some beer? Or maybe even a few guys within a local area could share the cost of one cable. Just a thought... |

Two or three times for me. The problem you would have is that you can't flash back to stock if you are taking it to the dealers and the tuners update/improve the tunes every so often, which you can't take advantage of unless you have a cable or access to it.
I am in Qld but would be prepared to loan mine to you if we could sort the arrangments out - PM if you like. :happy0180: Quote:

You need that cable to be able to return it to the factory tune for service or warranty. Even if they don't detect it they might realise it's modified when they take it out to thrash it and raise enough suspicion to flag it? If you're close enough then sharing one would be the way to go for sure. |

hmmm I'm really torn. Everyone makes a good point about the remote tuning but I did want to do it locally on the dyno and build a good relationship with the garage. Not being able to restore the factory settings for servicing doesn't worry me that much since the I/E mods will probably void warranty anyway. However paying the extra $600/700 makes a big difference.
More research required I guess to find the pros/cons of local tuning. |

$700 saving is already 3/4 the price of a Perrin catback. |
